Black Label and Vertigo are pretty different.

Black Label is basically just the “For Mature Audiences” brand for the DC Universe (see: Bat-dick), with a bit of out of continuity stuff (but still DCU) thrown in.

Vertigo was a bit more the supernatural (at the beginning) and adult titles. The DCU titles (like Swamp

We watched the first two streaming last week and, oh, wow, my memories of them were far better than the films actually are. But to the flaws (or dated nature?) of each of the movies were totally outshone by the sheer charm and good-naturedness of the entire cast.

So, we shelled out the bucks for “Face the Music” and,

“I do think people should be going to the movies. If they can go to a house party with 700 people without masks on, they can put on a mask and go to a movie”

Sounds like I did forget.

I might have forgotten that. I was focusing on the depiction of the well story as that’s where we found it out in the comics. This is very likely a re-watch candidate, so I’ll keep an eye out.

And the fact that it was “unsurprising” is precisely my point. Sexual assault is the go-to trauma for women in media, to the

As a kid, I never understood why Rita was on the team in the original run. I think how this show has handled her is indicative of their solid embracing of the strengths of the source material (not usually a virtue) while extending and enhancing it. The Red Shoes episode was another fantastic example - the original Ruby

(Side note, it is simply inaccurate to say that there hasn’t historically been a significant police presence at Pride marches (and also erases the black lgbtq+ community’s specific experience with police violence). Ever heard of the riots at Stonewall?)

Anyone that doesn’t think that Fieg didn’t have a parallel plan in the drawer for the moment that X-Men and Fantastic Four became available is a fool. Plans cost virtually nothing (salary costs). And even if they didn’t then, they sure as hell do now.  This is a studio that has a history of shifting pretty quickly

“It’s not a rumor. It’s speculation.”

There was a rumor about the shows being folded into HBO Max at one point.

That is exactly why I stopped going to SDCC. The content became less unique to the experience, between the media and the merchandise, there wasn’t enough left to make the cost of the experience worth it. NYCC had that for a while later, but it fell to the same trend in the last 4 years. The creator presentations were

Marv Wolfman flat out mentions Power Woman”

I was here to make the same nit. But I could see someone doing that change to make his story more tragic. Seems in line with the tone.

Stuck the landing indeed.

I got the feeling with Rose that her change of heart started pretty much when she got there and began to get to know them.

More context is really helpful. I was so consistently disappointed in the short vague comments with links that I just started jumping over those also.  Summary + link for more info is much more pleasant.

Which all should have been in the article.

Right? I was at the exhibition reading these things and my mind was totally blown. I came away thinking, “Shit, the man that I thought for years was an insane social Puritan was also actually a really good man and did more for the world than I could ever hope to.” People are very complicated.

I’m pretty sure that the L

The Werthem references may go much deeper.

From Wikipedia: “Wertham had an early reputation as a progressive psychiatrist who treated poor black patients at his Lafargue Clinic when mental health services for blacks were uncommon due to racialist psychiatry. Wertham also authored a definitive textbook on the brain,

Also, Hooded Justice is implied to be gay (and in a relationship with Captain Metropolis) in the original comic. So, having Jackson play him here may be a not to that as well.
