It’s the same as it ever was for me in terms of “excitement”. Regular season baseball is for having on in the background while I do something more interesting. The playoffs are going to be as intriguing as ever and no will care if there are less singles and doubles.

I firmly maintain that kids should have to grow up with the internet like 80's babies did. You’re 10, you get early 90's dial-up internet and AOL on a desktop. 13th birthday, maybe early cable “high speed” internet and some funny flash videos. Turn 16, you get Napster and ICQ, and so on.
