Of all of the H3’s and especially H2’s faults you are complaining because their tow rating isn’t as high as a contemporary 3/4 ton truck? They were not meant to be heavy duty work trucks like 3/4 ton trucks.

That is not always true. The last time the GM twins combined outsold the F-series was in 2015 (and note the F-series outsold GM in 2014). Ford’s lead has actually been growing in recent years as GM sales have stall. As of September 2018 (GM’s last available numbers) it is 576,644 for GM, 679,018 for Ford. 

They actually all do that. GM’s Silverado and Sierra figures include the HDs, along with the Ram Pickup numbers.  

The Ram won’t catch the F-series, and I don’t think FCA expect it to. They will be very happy if the new Ram gets them the solid #2 slot though.

Even 4Runner sales sank. In 2009 Toyota sold less than 20,000 of them(!). For comparison in 2008 they sold just under 48,000, and in 2007 then sold just under 88,000. In 2010 they were back to 46k. 

I would wager the Borrego’s failure was less because of the styling and all because of the timing.
