Yeah. I actually don’t doubt that there are some talented people on that show (whose talent is wasted by the material) but “best people from SNL” just isn’t a selling point anymore. If nothing else, most of us haven’t been able to see them actually shine anywhere, because we know them from...SNL. I have really enjoyed

Yeah I experience this with a lot of shows. It doesn’t even have to be shows with a lot of continuity....I think The Simpsons season 9 (the season where it starts to slide, IMO) is at least okay, but I look at it less fondly because of how bad a lot of the later seasons are and because I can retrospectively see all

I was more comparing current SNL to the whole run of MAD TV. (I wasn’t actually aware it was brought back.) In other words, if I was forced to pick between watching an old MAD TV from when it was on, or anything from the past 5-10 years of SNL, I would pick MAD TV in a heartbeat. And I hated MAD TV.

eMy stance is that here in February 2019 I have a pretty good handle on who all the candidates are and what they all stand for (except maybe Klobuchar who I’ve never thought much about, but she’s DOA anyway and the most notable thing about her appears to be that she beats her own staff) and can at least tentatively

Only the original is worth anything. I actually agree with you about the cartoon, it’s pretty bad and the warm reception it still gets seems like nostalgia to me.

I think I saw the exact tweet about it having the best of the SNL cast and it just made no sense to me. Are we still pretending that SNL has some kind of special pedigree for talent at this point? For god’s sakes, they passed up far funnier Trump impersonators so that Alec Baldwin can do nothing but purse his lip.

I don’t know. On a certain level I agree with you, but I would have to say that there are any number of TV shows and movies that I enjoy a little bit less after seeing their lame successors, or I think less of the original as a result of it. (I can’t even stand to look back at Parks and Rec because of that terrible

It’s one of the most perfect comedies. The first forty minutes or so are probably some of the funniest that any movie has ever been.

That said, pretty much NO comedy should ever get a sequel (I’ll give a pass to GB’s 80s contemporary Back to the Future, but even those sequels are just OKAY compared to the original),

I don’t know if that’s feasible but all I can say is you’re giving me endless screenplay ideas!

“No offense, but this is why Trump won.”

That’s quite a reach. All I’m doing is what any reasonable person would do, which is look at the long, publically available records of all these people and assess them that way. Even a cursory glance at electoral history would show that candidates that govern one way at lower

Maybe it’s just that SNL (which is even less watchable than MAD TV at this point) is wasting her talents but I just don’t understand the hype for McKinnon. She’s....fine, but there are so many funnier people (and funnier women if we’re restricting to that) working currently.

Ah yes, ever since the ruling in Smelt v. Dealt.

Honestly, I find it upsetting that it was that low. These dudes are risking a lot for a literal millionaire just so he can negotiate for even MORE pay, and that’s all he can cough up for them?

Not gonna lie, I think this is a significant reason I never became a sports fan. I really tried in college, but all the faux-patriotism and compulsory (okay, no one was holding me at gunpoint, but how are the people around you going to react if you don’t stand) standing during the national anthem just put me off.

This is a great reference that needs all the likes

She’s probably one of the most popular figures in politics right now. You don’t have to like the “cult” as you put it, but it doesn’t matter - Obama was also basically a cult following in 2007/08 and clearly that propelled him as far as his run for office. And yes, a lot of the inner party can’t stand her, but I think

Personally I’m fine with picking my candidate now because I’m pretty familiar with all of them and what they all stand for, and I know which one is closest to my politics (Sanders, who truthfully is not even nearly left-wing enough for the present moment demands, but is by far the closest thing; Warren would be a

I know what a centrist is, thanks. And I’m happy that a lot of centrists are adopting more progressive policy proposals (which hopefully soon will no longer be considered so radical).

1. By the same token, it’s Feb. 2019 and there is no harm whatsoever in knocking out the candidates who are not worth our time. I think you’re greatly overrating the effect of the “litmus tests” (Trump won because half the country chose to be disengaged from politics entirely. The tiny minority of Bernie voters who

Let’s just be clear on this: Harris is paying lip service to legalize weed now, after treating weed smokers (especially the poor and those of color) incredibly badly not even all that long ago. I’m sure those still serving their lengthy sentences would find the dismissiveness around that a little irritating. Look, I’m
