Couldn’t agree more. Also, if he hadn’t killed himself he would have most likely killed her. Statistically, a man who chokes a woman is significantly more likely to kill her. I am sorry for everyone who had to be a part of this horrendous act but I am relieved for her safety now.

My ex tried this while we were separating and also told our young childern (4 and 6) that he was going and would never see them again. He also spewed shit about wanting to die of suicide by cop and tried to use that to stop me from calling the cops. I called the cops anyway and they took him away for a mental eval.

He endangered the lives of every single person in that building. People were injured, one seriously burned, trying to help him. Everyone who saw this now has to live with seeing a person burning alive, one of the most horrific things I can imagine. He lost my sympathy with this one single act. His completely

E.L. James is furiously taking notes.

“...it seems that this act was directed towards his ex-girlfriend, towards whom he had a violent history of domestic abuse.”

Whatever it takes for him to stop hitting women.

No, you’re not crotchety. I’m only 35, and every time I hear about a goddamn “promposal”, I gnash my teeth and roll my eyes with a cynical WTF. They even roped Bell and Kimmel into this shit.

Wait, the real story here is that prom reveals are a thing now. Like seriously — you need the dress, the date, the ride, the noteworthy PROMPOSAL, and now... you also have to SHOCK AND AMAZE people with a stunt worthy of a viral video when you actually get to the prom, too? I must be extra old and crotchety or

Just like men were shocked about the pussy grabbing but still voted for Trump because saying I don’t like the pussy grabbing was enough of an action.

I do think there is some validity to that, though I also understand why people find the show so relevant and appealing right now. An article in the NYRB kind of nailed what my girlfriend and I found problematic about HMT. The whole review is, in my opinion, worth reading, but here’s a relevant quote:

Oh god this kind of statement bothers me sooo much. They always say shit like that while doing absolutely nothing to change things, even in their own lives.

Poly comes in all kinds of different configurations. Basically it’s just ethical non-monogamy where multiple intimate or romantic relationships are possible.

If he decides to venture out into porn I think Chase Banks has a nice ring to it.

Well it’s clearly not ‘say yes to the bra.’

I agree with most of this... but the throwaway comment at the top regarding a buffet "only" saving $10 a head?? For a wedding of 50 people, that's still $500. To a lot of people, that's not money to sniff at.

Am I allowed to throw said punch at my grandmother for constantly asking how much everything costs? I refuse to answer (which she takes to mean that I spent WAY too much!), and generally am able to keep it together, but I'm pretty sure that if said question or its ilk hit my ear on the day of the wedding...Nana might

15. You are allowed to throw, scott free, exactly one punch in the face to the friend or relative that states one of the following, 'Why don't you just elope?', 'I can't believe you are paying X for Y!?!?' or 'Oh that wasn't important for OUR wedding.' Choose wisely.

As a veteran bridesmaid, let me throw this out there re: #10. Do NOT buy me a nice gift to thank me. I love you; I'm happy to be here, it's why I agreed to be your bridesmaid in the first place, and I do not need a memento—I have 300 pictures of myself at your wedding to remember it by. If you really want to do
