Of course, we don't know the lead up - this is her version of events. Either way, even if you consider her reaction proportional, her actual perspective is bad. She's coming from a place of "how dare you tell me what to do" (he is a director, that is literally his job, and why he dares to tell her what to do). If

I understand Washington’s position. He thinks he’s in charge, and the ad lib could come off as a stage direction. That’s undermining his authority, and it’s kind of hard to be the boss with two people trying to be in control. If he’s more conciliatory as an actor, I don’t consider him in the wrong.

Somehow this makes me like & respect both of them less, they both come off as egotistical and somewhat abusive

“The Innocent will get hurt the most...” is always the argument against boycotting.

But The Innocent are already getting hurt, which is why the boycott is happening.

It sucks that the path to breaking these cycles sometimes results in more innocent people getting hurt. But if The Guilty don’t feel punished and suffer

Gaprindashvili probably doesn’t have a legal case here, but it still feels like Netflix did her dirty. The line mentioning her only playing women is the only acknowledgement she gets in the whole movie, which sucks considering that the main character is partly based on her; specifically on the fact that Gaprindashvili

Imagine having an orchestral score for a video game that was written in part by Paul McCartney and then recorded at Abbey Road and then just burying it. SMH

If you didn’t play the original Oxenfree, then first of all, play one of the best video games ever made!

Add to that, there’s a vast difference between “doesn’t agree with” and “directly impacted by”

As the CEO of a company, part of his job is to not rock the boat, and cause falls in stock price. By saying this stuff, he did so. He was bad at his job. He lost it.

There is a difference between an employee voicing opinion and the CEO doing so, as he speaks for the company, especially when he mentioned his role as a game developer and essentially evoked his company in his statement.

His “opinion” is that women should be stripped of their right to medical care and control of their own bodies because of his personal religious views. You can’t deny women basic human rights and then whine about lack of inclusivity.

This is pretty normal. Your freedom of speech applies to the government not being able to jail you for the things you say. If you work for a company freedom of speech doesn’t shield you from being fired. Companies have intrinsic values that you’ll have to be aware of. Anything that goes against those values will be

You’re conflating these instances. In one its an internal discussion about events that may be modern politics, job dynamics, compensation, etc. — This is for management and the employees to discuss what’s going on and come to something that may benefit them and the company.

*waits for the outcry of whiny cis men bitching about cancel culture and anti-abortion rhetoric*

Same. I’ve never watched The Wire (I know, I know, I’m a horrible monster) but his turn as Chalky was one of the best things about Boardwalk Empire.

“Well, I ain’t buildin’ no bookcase.” So much fucking talent, and Chalky White was the coolest.

I know this is not where most people know him from but I loved him in Boardwalk Empire.

Reading through the Twitter thread, it’s hilarious how many people equate abortion to “murdering babies.” Like, fuck off with that hyperbolic fearmongering crap.

If a braindead hospital patient is taken off life support are you “murdering” them? No. You’re doing what’s best for them and their family in an effort to

Passing laws for citizens to report people for “undesirable” behavior sounds a lot like something that happened a long time ago.
