Counterpoint, your so close in age to being a boomer it makes the rest of the argument hard to follow.

So, where do I fit in to GM’s plans? I’m 45. I’m a Corvette fanboy since the 70's. (When I was a kid I had all sorts of toy C3 Vettes.) I have an 80. I drooled over the 90 ZR1. I can tell you all sorts of fun facts about every model year. I test drove a 99 FRC. I couldn’t afford one, so I bought a 2001 WS6 instead.

See, the reason I ask is that many of those would be negatives for me, and others I simply don’t value. I dislike the lack of theatre, the reduced count and need for physical control mechanisms, and the way that the cars are identical except for a software flag enabling features (like on-disc DLC). I know enough about

One thing I really hate is people that generalize generations. It’s dumb, and often inaccurate. I will bet anyone a nickel that boomers will be 60%+ of the buyers of this thing. My dad (age 70) has always hated the Corvette and think this one is finally one he might consider.

What about it is making you smile like an idiot, though?

I’ll bite.  I bet that this not only increases sport car sales for GM, but for non-GM and increases the sport car slice of the total automotive sales pie.  There I said it.

Exactly, and personally in 2017/18 I would have bought the bolt with no second guessing over the 3, if only because I could be pretty sure the price and options wouldn’t change between ordering and delivery

I mean it didn’t do that.

Yeah, but my 20 year old truck has electrical tape and a missing bolt or two, while just now Tesla offers it from the factory.

The Model 3 is just an overpriced econobox with a shitty interior and an electric drivetrain. It’s about as game-changing as a Chevy Bolt.

Electric cars existed before the Model 3

The model 3 moving the needle on adoption of electric cars remains to be seen. Tesla, but dumping cash into their supercharger network has already moved the needle. I don’t CURRENTLY see the model 3 actually moving it that much more. It’s still too expensive for the masses.

...changes everything.”

I read that as “20 cars parked in the space of 1”. But yeah, if 4C’s are only moving at 12/month, the 50 that were repossessed represent 4.17 months worth of National inventory.

So you’re saying I’m stupid if I have, let’s say, $20k of equity in a car and still owe $5k and want to trade it in? Why should I have to pay it off before trading it in?

Victim blaming comes off as being an asshole. The dude expected the dealership to fulfill their contractual obligation and they didn’t.

Nothing more American than buying a car while you’re still paying off your old one.

The story said nothing about being upside down- just about every single American finances a house while still owing money on their current house, correct? Plenty of people may take a loan for 50% of the purchase price (down payment plus equity from current trade in) and therefore takes another new loan. This is

All the dealers nation wide only sell 12 per month, so that dealer may only sell 1 or 2. I think they were speaking more figuratively.
