If a door texture failing to load is the one thing coloring your view of a game that is absolutely filled to the brim with beautiful and stunning visuals you might just be a miserable asshole.

I mean, two things:

I don’t think they read past your first sentence.

Oh the irony

as i get older i try not to become a “get off my grass” guy, but sheesh, this is like people didn’t get enough of the pettiness and stupidity of high school, and decided to keep including that in their lives. Its good that I have no clue who an of these people are. there are amazing things online if you look hard

Wish I had taken your advice before I clicked this article...

Some people need to spend less time on the internet.

This should’ve been on highlight reel :(

You have way too much faith in the justice system

Now playing

Not sure if this was intentional, or even a tribute, but I loved how big fights in Tsushima reminded me of the beautiful chaotic fights in Kurosawa films, particularly this fight scene in Yojimbo. Granted I did most of the running away, but the way the controlled chaos feels so fluid in the game never stops making me

I’d think it’s about corporate culture. And that culture of secretiveness has done well for Nintendo. This isn’t a new idea, most corporations would not want their failed/scrapped ideas out in the open. If nothing else, it gives others an insight into your process, which itself can very much be a “trade secret”.

Perhaps they have better things to do than to waste time on immaterial issues.

Shimura was also completely against using Mongol arrow turrets to defend a tiny ship (which represented the only hope of survival) against a Mongolian Armada.

I really wish gamers would internalize at least this one thing:

Such a tired argument. You can buy a headset for under $300 that will let you play this game. This is not “as least as much as a pc”. Also, every Half-Life game has been expensive to play initially. I didn’t get to play Half-Life 2 until it made it to the 360.

And this is why executives shouldn’t be allowed to meddle. The CEO thinks their idiot kid’s lone opinion is the equivalent of rigorous market testing.

I don’t see any lie in that quote.

I’ve noticed this particular trend on the internet that people tend to act like they know everything about programming, computer game development, graphics, loading of assets etc when they have 0 knowledge of how a computer actually works or how memory management and these 3d graphics rendering works.

Because making a larger profit is only one goal of a company. Presumably, a video game publisher also has the goal of making great games and building goodwill with their fans.

There’s an old saying that I learned a longttime ago, that seems to get truer every year: People suspect of others what they know of themselves.
