Because it takes a lot more time and money to make. And if it’s rush, well gamers are going to complain as if there is no tomorrow about “this is what’s wrong with the industry”, and how broken the game is.

You left out “Dead Angles” from dark souls 1. The concept of being able to pull off a backstab while technically not being directly behind the person, but facing the direction they are looking. Its a gimmicky douche way to play. But many people who played over 1000 hours of PVP know this term, and its douchey ways.

As a huge fan of Dark Souls, I was going to bring this up. I think this is a really legitimate means of storytelling. Giving the story away in bits and pieces and asking the player to piece it together is a great hook, and really manages to get players to immerse themselves in the story.
