the people who think this is a problem have no idea how console development works and all the hoops you have to jump through to release a game on either console. patches cost a bunch of money, no one wants to do them. but they have to do them because you find bugs after submission and things. if you cant get a patch…
You should check out A Hat in Time when it comes out - it definitely seems like it is going be in that vein.

It is hard, and I don't think it helps that Mr. Sakurai has to be a micro-manager as the series gets more complex and he gets older (he's had health problems!).
