I switched over to chrome for a while, because the speed and general interface were better. There were a few things I didn't like about it though. There's a bug that makes it crash whenever you open a new tab in the background that requires proxy authentification (which makes it almost unusable for me at work), and

Short term: eat an apple

@Mxx: I agree. Also this "stop whining because you could previously afford something, and now suddenly you can't because the price quadrupled overnight, it's your own fault for not being richer" reasoning makes little sense.

By the way, does anyone know how likely it is I'll get some kind of refund if I cancel my account now? I still have about 6 months left, and the faq is vague: "Refunds on multi-period plans (i.e. annual and biennial plans) may be granted on a prorated basis for the unused portion of the period purchased, in whole

Damn it, I just finally finished backing up +/- 200 GB and thought I was set for life. Naive, I guess. Moving to Crashplan!

That it won't allow background apps to use sound, and things like that. Cool features that third party apps COULD have, but don't, because iOS won't let them.

Great, so now I have my google voice number, just like I've been longing for. But, as everyone else is asking, what do I DO with it, not (yet?) being able to forward to my actual phone?

I'm actually still on track from last year's article, yessss! Still cool to smugly read all the things I've already been doing though...

@spoko: and then you can find your bookmarks right from the address bar? If that's true I might just start using Diigo after all.

@will_hopkins: Yes, I meant a service that does both well, like delicious does. Diigo is probably closest but I really don't want an extra toolbar...

In other words, nothing that can handle

I really, really love delicious. It's great for archiving stuff AND for keeping bookmarks of sites you visit often, or fairly often, when combined with the excellent firefox extension. I'm going to suppress any knowledge of this leak and just keep on using it untill the shutdown is officially announced (although I

@zkam: yeah, but it's so much worse than delicious. I hope someone will take it over though.

That's exactly what I thought when I read about this...I'm so glad I read lifehacker in the first place, so I don't have the same crappy password at all my accounts anymore :D

I bought an Acer desktop computer last year, and initially I dual booted with ubuntu and windows 7. After a while I'd stopped using ubuntu almost entirely, so I decided to go back to single booting windows 7. After a lot of hassle (which got resolved right here in the open thread by the way!), I succeeded. However, I
