Looks super super thin, probably for weight reasons? I wonder if time is more a factor, or temperature? 20 miles doesn’t seem like a crazy distance for wheels made of metal to endure, even as small as they are.

This was an issue on early 4xe Jeeps as well. Never made it to a recall, so I’m guessing it was fixed in a software update, but I remember a lot of people on the forums and groups saying to never let the Jeep get below 1/4 tank or you were stranded.
10,000 Lbs + 1000 Hp + 35" tires + Suspension flexed to limits + inexperienced driver + 1" thick cast iron tie rods= SNAP
We do that occasionally, there are even folks that make a living brokering sales between dealers, and new overstock.
“Tale as old as time,
I don’t think many will mourn the loss, to be honest. Our take rate for the base sport is pretty high, and when we get them they are gone in 2 weeks tops, but it has more to do with the price and stickshift than the windows and doors. To get power doors and locks you had to pick the Sport S trim, forcing you to pay…
My first car was a dark green 1996. I think we paid like 3000 at a car lot for it, it had well under 100k miles and was mint shape. I loved that little thing!
Back then, Diesel was having a bit of a resurgence thanks to the popularity of VW’s Tdi models, Mercedes bluetec, the popularity of it in Europe, and If I recall, by 2005 ish just about every manufacturer had announced they were working on light duty diesels, like GM with thier “next generation small car” (became the…
The 1st year 4xe’s had their share of problems, but I’ve had 2 now, a 2022 and a 2024, both trouble free.
The Chevy Cavalier kept the lower class on reliable wheels for 3 decades. No shame in that car, it’s a cheap, ugly, scrappy, rough, underdog product that only Ohioans could build, but an american institution nonetheless: Kind of like the Hi Point pistol.
My newest cheapo work rig, I just spent $2000 bucks on a Burnt Orange Kia Soul 5-speed. Honestly, I don’t know why these things get hate, It’s absolutely delightful to drive.
Oh they knew. They had to. At the dealership level, we started collectively saying “What the HELL are they doing?” About a year ago, when they announced the death of the Renegade, Cherokee, 300, Charger, and Hemi engines in the Rams, saw that Chevy and Ford started introducing rebates and answered that with price…
It’s all a show.
While I’m pissing and moaning also, the center console “Piano black/Square buttons” thing has got to stop. It has the exact same look and tactile feel as the dash buttons in a rental spec Jeep Compass.
I think maybe it’s just the color. I think as a society we’re so damn used to silver it may as well be the official color of “ Car”
Am I completely off base, or does it look.....I don’t know, cheap and rough? Maybe the gauges are two small. Maybe there’s too much of a gap on both sides....But the screen looks better than the other two faces.
I really don’t “get” the sub-brand thing. It was dumb when FCA spun off “Ram” from Dodge, “Wagoneer” from Jeep, it was dumb when chevy mentioned having a “Corvette” subbrand for an SUV, when they Came out with two different Broncos, and it was dumb when they spun “Mustang” into an EV SUV.
As a Stellantis salesperson who loved FCA, hates Stellantis, and generally just loves seeing chickens come home to roost, let me just say:
I think “Off-roading” is such a situational thing that you’re going to have a hard time crowning just one “King” here. If you go to Moab, a new 4 door Wrangler Rubicon is pretty impossible to beat. But if we switch the locale to Baja California, The Bronco/Raptor will leave the Jeep in the dust. If we are on a two…
