I really feel like 8 speeds is perfection. Rams, despite the Hemi and 3.6l probably being the oldest/most dated/least powerful in their respective class never feel down on power or like theyre in the wrong gear. That transmission and its tuning covers the engine’s ass like no other.

These ratings are a very fickle thing, too, I’d like to know what goes into the ratings, there are some vehicles that arent even close, and some that are way better than the numbers suggest. I’ve driven a LOT of trucks home from the lot (60 mile round trip, 1/2 highway 1/2 steep hilly backroads)

Ohhhh I wasn’t aware you were talking a NEW car. I had just assumed you were on a used one, and the store you bought from had taken it in at a much lower amount, or got lucky and didnt have a big service bill.

Here’s the thing with that though: We don’t have the ability to magically change the numbers in our vehicle inventory system, for obvious reasons. Everyone at a dealership has to answer to someone, and the sales folks and sales managers that you will deal with can absolutely not manipulate things like cost,

Being in the business, you meet a lot of people that have worked at other dealers, or otherwise had experience with them. There’s no rhyme or reason other than maybe urban vs. Rural dealers, with rural dealers tending to be MUCH more transparent and focused on customer service. We’re a CDJR store, and customer service

As someone in the business, they’re absolutely right. I’m lucky to work at a place that doesn’t pay commission, but most places pay the salesperson 15-20% on front end (Gross profit on sale price) and another 10 on back end (marked up financing, warranties, etc.)
