It all makes sense, but with some models and brands, I call bull. Don’t tell me you’re shutting the Belvedere plant down because nobody is buying cherokees. Nobody is buying cherokees because there are better cars for 40 grand, sure. But you know how to fix that? 399 a month lease deal. Boom. Done.

Yup. I can see from a manufacturer standpoint why they’re doing it, slow the sales down to catch up on inventory, but imagine being the layperson walking into a dealership, with no knowledge of the auto industry at all, thinking your going to toss the sales guy your keys and walk out with a new truck for the same

Mostly. Example. My buddy is leasing a 2020 Ram 1500 with a money factor of 0.00080. To convert that to an interest rate, multiply the money factor by 2,400, giving us a 1.92% Rate. Say his lease is up, and its time for a new one. Current lease rate for his 850-credit-score-having-ass is 0.00470, or ELEVEN POINT

Not really, but I can’t speak for all brands. We dont hammer people on down payments, because it really only affects monthly payment, there’s no advantage to it other than that. Maybe 500 or 1000 to get the payment from $415 to a better-feeling $389 or whatever, but now when your talking a 10-15 dollar a month

The price increases in general suck, but also look into the options.

People arent leasing right now because the manufacturers have completely stopped subventing lease rates and residuals.

With how much universal praise this system receives, I’m taking peoples word for it that it is extremely well-engineered and thought out.

I dont know if I’m startled at the thought of people using this to pay less attention when towing, or if I’m at ease because it probably handles the truck in a safer manner than the average driver.

Correct, If it were under some grand scheme it could be malicious, but this is just SO many people, organizations, and authorities operating at the same time. It’s crazy as all heck.

“Why would any buyer do that?”

It’s got us thrown into a frenzy. Our dealer group set cash aside for the downturn, when you have 200 plus used cars across 3 stores, and an average markup of 2400 bucks, a 5 percent drop is EXTREMELY scary. We shipped a lot off to auction to try and get out ahead of this, and we’re in the process of replenishing at a

I LOVE that they pushed the Cab forward, and kept the hoodline so low. Visibility in full size trucks is not talked about enough.

Gauge clusters are something I nerd out on, and the F50's is DIVINE

That’s totally fair, I get it. But I dont see why applying the brakes and throttle at the same time (a common technique used when off-roading) will send it straight to 2wd. Why not just design the PCM to only allow for 49% throttle when the brakes are applied?

I love it, but I can’t get past the clutch-based transfer-case. I understand these modern trucks have systems in place to prevent damage, but losing 4wd in the middle of a difficult obstacle is annoying at best, unsafe at worst.

BINGO.

Now I know its not just me! Every other time we have a WRX on the lot it seems like I have to STAB that clutch down to get it to start

These two are the standouts to me because of all the combined factors. I learned in my Geo Tracker, which itself was terrific, but the clutch was like and on/off switch and the super super short wheelbase made it prone to bucking like crazy. My bronco 2 was decent as well, but that super long 1st gear made hill starts

I’ve taught a LOT of people to drive stick, and I believe the best by far to be the Jeep Wrangler Tj. Plenty of torque, a long, forgiving clutch with good feedback, a low first gear, long, deliberate throws with a nice, re-affirming “click” into gear, they just make it very simple.
