Hold up, I wasn’t saying this was a good talk. I was saying this was a bad talk until you finally decided to explain your stance more than just “call all brown people Mexican, it’s fine!” Kinja might be a shitty user interface and commenting system, but The Takeout is not a shithole site. Stone is a shithole brewery

Asking if someone is Mexican is not the same thing you were arguing before. You said “Latinx” is an insulting term (I was not ever disagreeing with this, I was just hoping to learn why), and to use “Mexican” instead.

Yeah, ok then you’re wrong. Calling someone Asian, which is the catchall for everyone from a continent, is fine. Calling someone Mexican is racist if you don’t know if that person is Mexican. It is not that same thing as calling someone Asian.

Char Siu sauce is commonly referred to as Chinese BBQ sauce. But there are no sesame seeds and little to no heat. It could be something the restaurant made? Since it has sesame seeds, it’s possible it was Korean BBQ sauce (the kind used on bulgogi and kalbi) with some other hot sauce or chili added to it. Was it

I don’t understand your comment. Are you saying calling an Asian “Asian,” is the same as calling a South American “Mexican?” Apologies, but I honestly can’t figure out what you’re trying to say.

Ask or refer to person A as Mexican and they can be fine with it or correct you and say actually i’m Colombian or whatever then move on, big deal.

So why is it insulting to Mexicans to call them Latinx? Is it because Latino is the preferred pronoun when referring to them as a group?

I don’t know if significant is the right word. I’m of the thought that this would happen in nearly any scene when an actor is dancing to a score.

I found that interview to skew much toward the side of “delightful” than it did “awkward.” Sure, there were a couple of awkward moments, but that’s pretty much on brand for Phoenix. The bit about his dancing was particularly charming. “Were you known for your dancing?” “I mean, not nationally...”

I think the context of the scene they’re talking about dictated the need to hear the score. It would be awkward if his dancing and the score didn’t match up well. He needed to hear the song to influence his moves.

they’re still going to stick to Mexican food related items

After the CEO came out and said he doesn’t believe in the long-term viability of plant based meat-substitutes and doubled down on tofu, this just seems like he’s trying to prove himself correct.

Genuinely curious about this. Is it just the “x?” Is Latino and Latina ok, or just as insulting? Is Hispanic a preferred description? It certain situations, it can be difficult to tell if someone or something is Mexican, Central American, South American, or Spanish. Would Hispanic even correctly describe someone from

Bullshit to try to pin it on this kid when Josh Hader was butt last night. Loads the bases then gives up a hit, but it’s the RFers fault. Riiiggghhht.

I’m pretty sure all you have to do in jail is just, like, sit there.

Brand New transcended emo. They wrote 3 masterful post-hardcore albums. Even their second “emo” album was not that same emo that had come before it. They changed the whole genre.

Bands that are not dumb and are easy to search for in relation to the actual words as they are supposed to be spelled:

Your beef stew needs a bigger bowl!

I would like to see, of those 30,000 daily meals, how much was actually wasted. People aren’t averaging a full 10 meals a day. They are ordering everything so just to see what they like, since the food cost is most likely included in your ticket.
