I dunno, 480 horsepower on a conservative 9psi tune is pretty decent. But yeah, unmodified they weren't quite there but were reasonable for the times. The 99-04 GT was capable of mid 5 sec 0-60 times.

It doesn't sound like the current 5.0 either. IF it is bored and stroked that could account for it but I dunno... it kinda had the boxer-ish rumble/growl. It does seem unlikely though.

This tired generalization does not really apply to the F450. Very few buy this truck unless they legitimately have something they tow often. Now the F250? Sure. It's a more comfy, easier (but not easy) to maneuver around town , version of the F450.
