It's no utopia. Then again, no where is.

No doubt a dohc 5.5 could have more power than the 6.2 LT1. Ford's 5.0 boss motor makes 444hp.
Yuck.
A 5.5 in the base Corvette / Stingray?!? I hadn't heard that before. I thought the base Vett's were getting the 6.2L Lt1.
Can't you be satisfied that overall fleet economy is improving year-on-year, decade-on-decade? Is it not enough that we have an OVERALL reduction in emissions related to better efficiency AND generally cleaner burning engines? And that this trend will continue. We can actually accomplish our goals without further…
Dude. Is that a challenge?
I know! I know! I know!
Interesting. I would only add that Jalopnik has a rendered picture of what the new Corvette is going to look like.
No. I said it was immense relative (as compared to) Mini's. Wording could've been more clear, I guess. No worries.
It's all good man. I don't think I said the subaru was close to the Mini. ???
350 may be pushing it but not with built internals and twin turbos , or a bigger single. I've seen plenty of 400+whp 2.0 liter Evo Xs with stock internals.
A good bit? Sure I agree! Not as much as the other cars I mentioned. Which was kinda my point. The Toyobura was making great power in the aftermarket 10 days after it was released, even though it is a "handling" car. The aftermarket support for the Subaru boxer engine is also immense relative to the Cooper.
This image pictured is not the correct one. See the link.
And that is exactly my point. Thanks for confirming. Perhaps I should have been more clear and said aftermarket support for engine modifications but I thought it was implied since we were talking about the potential of the 1.6.
Look, I'm not saying you can't put a custom tune, intake and a downpipe on your mini cooper S and make some decent power... I'm just saying the platform does not seem, to me, to be leveraged extensively in making say 350 whp Cooper Ss common place. Maybe I'm wrong! LOL.
So are you saying the mini aftermarket is more focused on handling?
You're not really clear what you disagree with in his statement. He's exactly right, IMO. What is pictured is NOT a true dual exhaust. It is a single exhaust that is split; it is cosmetic only. The same flow would be accomplished by cutting that exhaust at the y and welding on a single in, dual out muffler. Sized…
Thanks!
You're right. My perception is based on what I've seen in the mainstream. I have not delved deep into the world of the mini aftermarket. That said, one cannot help but notice all the insanely modded Cobolt SSs or Neon SRTs. I just don't see a similar representation from Mini.
It's not a Coyote, I actually own a FI 4.6 2v now so I don't have anything against FI. I just prefer NA and will be going back to it soon in my '92 fox body. I'm thinking I want a Jon Kaase built FE motor next. http://www.jonkaaseracingengines.com/
