“I’ll take Hypocrites for $500, Alex.”
“I’ll take Hypocrites for $500, Alex.”
The use of the word “best” serves to separate Lucas and Sorkin!
To be fair though there are quite a few inconsistencies with Bender’s backstory elements (as well as with other stuff) throughout the series so I can kind of give them a pass there since the story was solid enough.
The episode isn’t one of the classics, the SONG in the episode is.
No Powell and Pressburger? Not much of a list, then. To the films mentioned, I would add “I Know Where I’m Going.”
Yeah no Powell & Pressburger is a huge oversight. They wrote some of the finest stuff of the 40s (Theo’s monologue about British and German relations in “The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp” is a high point).
And then round it out with The Red Shoes, Black Narcissus and Colonel Blimp. Any of the four is a better recommendation for being on the list than Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Shit! In fact those three should be used in evidence to have Lucas banned from the list…
Did anybody with a 3 digit IQ ever buy the “too rich to be bought” deal?
Seriously. Long-form O’Neal articles are a pleasure.
The fact that stock prices for gun manufacturers in the US rise after almost every mass shooting—including this last one—should tell a person all he needs to know about this country: So many of its citizens are so fucking selfish, so utterly, myopically obsessed with clinging to their fun lil’ shooty bang-bang toys…
Let’s be frank: it’s clear by now, the United States is not a civilized country.
Humanity Corner - I wanted to skip this altogether today, but that is the wrong response. Instead, I’m going to state some facts and let people draw their own conclusions.
EB White...not CS Lewis?
The writing needs some major work and the design/costumes are as bad as people said. But they somehow managed to get me invested in a couple of characters (Medusa mainly) and Black Bolt was pretty amusing in his interactions with humans. Maybe I’m just a low-brow tv viewer, but I didn’t find it that terrible outside…
That is a good theory, especially since he does say early in the episode that Beth wasn’t his daughter and that he wasn’t referring to his universe jumping, if there was any a clue that would probably be a fairly big one.
I was under the impression that not only did she take the clone option, but the Beth at the beginning of the episode was also a clone, and Rick had done this multiple times for multiple clones.
I think the Redskins should just rename themselves the Washington Americans so right-wingers would look bad for complaining about the new name.
You realize you’re talking about a guy who created a whole film based around a fake musical called “Springtime for Hitler”, right?
He did this! It was a sumptuous production, and Poirot’s rage at the end was something to watch.
David Suchet or gtfo.
