Why didn't this episode take full advantage of the setup and actually shoot it like a 70s British sitcom? Long shots, a proper stage feel, maybe even get a studio audience in (although I presume that'd be more tricky). Childrens Hospital can do so much better than this, they usually know how to completely commit to a

See, I get in retrospect that Beth was supposed to be Manuel, but watching it I was just totally confused. Why didn't she understand Sy? No reason, except that Manuel didn't understand Basil (which he had a REASON TO). The more I think about this episode the more it annoys me. Every aspect of its Fawlty Towers

Fawlty Towers is brilliant comedy because it has incredibly strong characters (performed by terrific actors and actresses). All of the comedy comes out of the characters' well established desperation and personal flaws. This episode had bizarrely weak characters - what were any of the characters' flaws here? In

It must be. This episode was just awful.

If this is what Americans think Fawlty Towers is like, go back and do your British comedy training again. Eventually I was able to detect the Basil Fawlty in Sy's performance (as frustratingly out of character as it all was), but so much of the humour and timing and even things like the laugh track were just way way

Nick Blood is what his Lance does when he's Hunting.

Dangit. At least we got the glorious U-KO'ed before it went.

No more NTSF:SD:SUV::? For shame, Adult Swim.

Avengers: Free Hugs

It might well be that the ones listed have better syndication (and I'm not sure how far Postgate's work reached, although I've definitely seen some references to the Clangers on American sites). All the same, I'm pretty sure Fraggle Rock doesn't have the same standing today as Animaniacs or Pinky and the Brain (and

Except for shows like The Magic School Bus and Blues Clues showing up on each list. Fraggle Rock ended 28 years ago, but still topped their second list.

Let's call the whole thing off!

I. AM. GROOT.

This show has always had some really atrocious dialogue. It hasn't been a problem for the last few episodes, but it was really back in force here. It's amazing how great storylining and performances can offset that, though.

No Animaniacs. No ReBoot. Nothing by Oliver Postgate.

Eat Up Martha?

Does anyone else (who's watched The Last Man on Earth) think Kyle MacLachlan could easily play, for example, Will Forte's father? When he's unsettled but not outright vicious, he looks exactly like TLMOE's Phil/Tandy trying to get people to like him.

This episode was a big miss for me. It just felt so… half-done. Was the teacher actually grifting the students? He denied it, but didn't really defend it, and it seemed like there was supposed to be more to him than was actually given. Does what the group did at the end really count as a grift, if it involved them

FUCK! I hadn't even thought of that, but it's perfect. Gah!

I don't need Jane to end up with Michael in the long run, but I'm definitely on #TeamMichael for the time being. One of the crucial things they've done is show how they were not just boyfriend and girlfriend, but best friends (which was stated in the pilot but not really demonstrated until the flashbacks we've seen
