Take your star and get out, Dave
Take your star and get out, Dave
I didn’t watch football at all last season, save the first half of the Super Bowl. It was fine. I’ll probably do much of the same this year, and check in every once in a while. I’m ok with that too
Eh, she’s literally made a career out of being someone who gets talked about. Even getting dragged nets her money. I’m with you, except for the Kardashians, and the attention trolls of their ilk
$75K for 4 four months of work not enough for to live on? Is this guy slumming it up on the Upper East Side?
My Spotify radios and daily playlists will constantly put Out On A Limb in the rotation. I never get mad when it happens.
Huh? The bottle of Hunt’s in the back go for like $8. And you know it’s been on the shelf for at least six months. What non bodega bodegas you hang out in?
Those are the best. The one in my neighborhood growing up had a deli, but no one would make you a sandwich unless they knew you. It was pretty funny to see someone order a chopped cheese and they acted like they couldn’t speak English.
All of these I know. I don’t understand why white people can’t say it
Sketch implies ghetto, but doesn’t say ghetto. As in, “walking down this block is sketchy because of the guys on the corner,” “I’m sketched out about the two brown skinned people that just walked into the store.”
Correct. The artisan organic mayonnaise shop is not a bodega. The “convenience” store, that really makes its money off of $20 bottles of wine and locally sourced cheese is not a bodega.
Bodegas refer to that small convenience store on the corner with the yellow awning, and has all the bodega accouterments, bodega cat, bullet proof display of various sex pills, that one bottle of Clorox that goes for $25 that no one is going to buy, etc. White people have co-opted it to mean any small store in their…
There are a ton of dog whistles I’d love removed from the white person’s lexicon, but number 1 on my list is “sketchy,” or any variation therein.
The hubris here is that you can’t socialize with people casually if you are not also networking with them. That, in total, is silly. It is certainly possible to interact with someone who doesn’t have your level of professional ambition.
So, can I clapback here on my own? Yesterday, there was a joke about white people and microbrews. I don’t think this is offensive, but misinformed. I get the joke, black people don’t drink beer. But, I do, as well as my friends, and so does Garrett Oliver, brewmaster for the largest macro in the country.
Was trying to find a FB post from a “friend” to collaborate. Essentally, it was a meme using an image from the Civil War, stating something like, “white people died to end slavery. You’d think black people could show more respect.”
So,
I like all of this, and yet I still don’t understand why places like D.C. and Atlanta don’t get even mid tier talent willing sign in those places. Bad organizations, maybe? John Wall being a prick? What athlete is lining up to actually live in San Antonio?
I may have told this story on Kinja before, but it’s ok to share again. I wasn’t a great student in high school, but I still thought my test taking and extra cirriculars could still get me into the PWI of my choice. Man, was I wrong. Every school I applied to rejected me. I was devastated. I got word of a program at…
RGIII definitely played 5 crappy games for a crappy team, so there’s that.
No where, NO WHERE, does it say that you can’t be fired for being a bigot.
