Who do you think the government is? It is the people of the country... Most countries don’t have the luxury of printing endless supplies of money. They have to do the crazy task of collecting taxes to support a balanced budget.

Renting the battery implies it is relatively easy to replace. When the battery wears out, you could get another battery with newer tech.

It is easier and more efficient to run many energy generation plants at 100% all the time. Innovation like this would make that possible.
