For any guitarists out there, how much is too much to spend on guitar equipment? A friend of a friend is selling a really nice rig for a really good price, but if I am not currently playing live gigs or anything, and it's a lot of money to drop at once.

"It don't matter what kind of job they had when they was living."

My guess is if this goes well Valve or another online game retailer will buy them out for the tech.

Let a friend talk me into signing up for the WoW trial. I can already feel its vile tendrils sinking into my flesh. Fuuuu....

Same here. It was a one-sitting game for me almost. Once I started I couldn't stop, and three hours do fly by.

Think of it this way though. This tactic makes Gamestop and others drop the price by $10 to compete with the need for a $10 pass. But it you don't give a crap about multiplayer, now you can get the game for single player even cheaper! You're still screwing the devs kind of, but that's an argument for another day.

Looks solid to me. You might need an extra PCI-Express plug depending on the card, but usually the boxed cards come with converters.

The Resident's Guide to San Diego Comic-Con: Get the hell out of San Diego for the weekend.

I enjoyed it. It wasn't the greatest game ever, but the story was fun, the puzzles were decently stimulating, and the atmosphere was wonderful as the first one was. A great bite-sized gaming snack.

You never want to skimp too much on the PSU, as you want your system running on clean power. I'd look for anything that's 80+ rated with at least 600W. Also, be sure to check the amps on the 12v rail. Some cheap PSUs don't have enough amps to run new cards. Generally, anything in the $50-$100 (not sure the British

Honestly for 1440x900 a 560Ti would be a little overkill, though it'd definitely be future-proofing the rig if you can afford it. If you're wanting to save some cash, any DX11 card from the past year or two should do you fine (by which I mean mid-tier or higher, like an Nvidia 400 series or a Radeon 5870).

That game was awesome. I thought "Exodus" was pretty solid too!

Thanks for the thoughtful article, Owen! I think the problem often stems from the Evangelical belief that we need alternative "Christian" versions of everything (something I cynically think stems more from marketing reasons than anything else). There doesn't need to be a separate realm of music or games or movies (or

A friend talked me into the World of Warcraft trial and after seven years of hating it irrationally (mostly for leeching people from my then favorite Dark Age of Camelot), I must say, it's actually pretty fun. Goodbye, life, I suppose.

Now playing

Thankfully I am a computer. Stop all the downloading.

I am doing LotRO as well. The extra experience weekend has drawn me back in, just when my sub is expiring too. The bastards...

I really like my Soundblaster World of Warcraft headset. I was able to get it for around $80 (wired) and it's got great sound, is comfortable, and has some sweet looking lights that you can customize (plus voice filters to make you sound like various WoW races).

MMOs are like a terrible ex-girlfriend. You have fun for a while, realize you're wasting your time, and move on for something better for you. But then, you get bored, or lonely, or drunk, and you find yourself crawling back for some cheap thrills. Even though you wake up the next morning with a headache and oh so much

Fun fact: Mask Toss Event is an anagram of Steven Stamkos, and accurately describes what happens to most goalies that face him.
