Yes, after posting this I looked it up. I hadn’t realised they went back so far. Most of the images I had seen of the old books definitely looked 50s to me, but that seems to be because the earliest books had no covers. And of course they have been ghostwritten ongoing for decades.

Sexual violence in movies/TV has made me extremely uncomfortable since I first saw it in Strange Days, which was a POV sequence. Direct brutal portrayal makes me feel ill. ‘Implied’ is more tolerable, but if it is in the first episode/20 minutes, then no thanks.
