I think the problem is that we are looking at writers who have a myopic view of culture/art and don’t know how to contextualize or appreciate things outside of what they consider, incorrectly, high art. Probably because it’s the one outlet they feel safe in giving support to their prejudices. Comedy is very conservative and appeals to the baseness of the audience.
