How would you feel about someone like me playing someone from South America even though I’m pretty white? Never mind my family is comprised of South American immigrants. I also know white people whose family is Asian and look just like Emma Stone in that film.

I think the problem is that we are looking at writers who have a myopic view of culture/art and don’t know how to contextualize or appreciate things outside of what they consider, incorrectly, high art. I think you need to brush up on how culture is costume even to whomever you think is the proper audience for it.

Probably because it’s the one outlet they feel safe in giving support to their prejudices. Comedy is very conservative and appeals to the baseness of the audience.
