Have you been in one, let alone drive one? Looks are subjective, I get that. But the car is leaps and bounds better than a GLI in every aspect except rear seat room. And the infotainment screen isn’t “glued on” - it retracts into the dash if you choose.

Not necessarily hold, but you have the grab the pane itself and move it away. Previously, you could just swipe up and “hit” the bottom edge of a notification and it would get pushed away.

You can still swipe them away, but you have to actually “grab” the notification itself instead of swiping up at it if that makes sense. But overall, they just look and seem much worse than in prior updates.

When watching a video in full screen, notifications are terribly intrusive.

On newer VW’s you can code the headlight washers to activate much less frequently (or disable them altogether).

Not to be a downer, but to be completely fair, many people were using disposable cameras there last night. I’d imagine digital cameras and cell phones weren’t allowed.

Exact same here. 2+ years in with mine and the stock power still puts a smile on my face. If I want a faster car, I’ll get one lol.

Meh. I know its cheap and easy power, but something’s gotta give eventually. Too many stories of blown turbos and toasted clutches for my taste. I’ll take peace of mind and a warranty over a 0-60 run that’s .5 seconds faster.

LED headlights aren’t available on any GTI anywhere in the world. Remember that the Mk7 GTI was actually developed and unveiled in Europe in 2012/2013 - we got it here in 2014 as a 15 model. I’d imagine the next GTI will get LED headlights as an option (as the 16 Passat now offers them for the first time on any US…

European models don’t get LED headlights, but they do get LED tail lights. Models in the US are available with a lighting package - adaptive bixenon HIDs with static cornering lights. Fog lights are full LED though.

Can confirm. Recently changed the HID bulbs on my GTI to Osram Xenarc CBIs. Official documentation calls for the removal of the bumper and headlight housings. I was able to (with the help of some fellow forum folks) go through the fender liner and fashion a custom tool to do everything while on the car.
