Its not merely about functions, its about quality and user experience. There's a reason why manufacturers like Audi (as one example) consistently get top marks on their interiors.

Agree with your first point for sure. But they will need to start using more bespoke parts instead of pulling from the same old GM parts bin. Nothing worse than sitting in a nicely design luxury car and noticing some switches or light clusters from the $14k entry level Chevy.

Huh? I never claimed anything. Think you replied to the wrong post. But still, 500 lbs is definitely hefty.

Haha rev happy and nimble vs. prop shaft seals didn't give it away? =P

But yes, my car just refuses to even hiccup for a second. Sure its down on power and the paint has seen better days, but it just keeps on trucking.

500 lbs is a lot.

That's definitely inevitable. Though for a 17 year old car with likely less than 100 horsepower (had 106 when new), it still holds its own. Aside from proper oil changes and basic TLC, the car hasn't given me any issues.

My Dad and I both drive cars from 97 (17+ years old now). Mine is a Civic, his is an Audi A6 Quattro. Guess which one is still as rev-happy, nimble, and bulletproof as day one. And now guess which one has needed prop-shaft seals every 2 years.

I sat in one at the local auto show and you could play the bongos with the dash board lol. It was so hollow and cheap feeling. And that screen. Looks like it was tacked on with a $2 mount from Big Lots.

I've always like Ferguson the most of all the late night hosts. Something so genuine and natural about him. The episodes he did on location in France were amazing.

Honestly didn't mean for that to happen. But I'll take it!

I should have mentioned those in my OP haha. Basically, I should have said I won't even consider a car with halogens (reflector or projector if I'm honest).

PS4 would be plenty for me. I don't really play games much - it's been months since I turned on my PS3. And when I do, its usually Gran Turismo or GTA for a bit. Cant justify a standalone gaming rig to be honest.

If you're cool with the MkVI, you can get them dirt cheap - I've been seeing fully loaded Driver's Editions for about 25k. Considering the sticker is north of 30k (excluding taxes and delivery), thats a pretty awesome deal. And I'm sure you can negotiate lower too.

Any advice for shopping for a car thats not quite out yet but will be in a few weeks/months? Itching to get my hands on a 2015 GTI, and just curious if you had any pointers on ordering or placing a deposit on an all new model. For what it's worth, the car is slated for a June arrival, but dealers cannot place orders

Just hoping they get the physics right and I'll be sold. Would pick up this and a PS4 in a heartbeat.

I won't even consider a new car if it doesn't have projector HIDs from the factory. Such a night and day difference.

It depends on the manufacturer, their incentives, and the dealer's participation in said incentives. Most of the time, you'll be able to get a great deal right at the end of a promotional sales event. But also keep in mind that dealers usually have 90 days to move inventory before they have to pay interest on it.

Know what I value more than "my time"? My money. I'm not going to drop 30 grand on a car that I'll be keeping for years to come without driving it and doing my homework first. If that's how you operate, more power to you. But your way isn't necessarily the right way for all people.

The perfect answer is Kia Soul in that regard. I know the car is intended for younger drivers, but older folks seem to love the car for its ride height, interior room, etc.

Just like Caterham Harrison mentioned, it may not be the best decision to exclude Japanese (and Korean) cars. Not only are they cheap, but they're crazy reliable.

Between the Chevy, Ford, and VW though, I have to vote VW. Very solid car with a bulletproof 2.5L 5 cylinder. They didn't cost too much when new, so I
