If the union is the one that gives out health insurance and members realize it can be difficult to work enough to maintain that insurance, why doesn’t the union just reduce the work requirements to have the insurance? Why would they have to be promoting their shows? I am not sure how a q&a session about your life would be promoting one specific thing. And a meet and greet session surely wouldn't. During the last writers strike a bunch of actors and writers did live stage shows and that didn’t seem to violate any union rules.
