When the front sensor for the adaptive cruise in my 2017 Golf R is covered with snow/ice, you have no cruise control. Similarly, when a wheel sensor in my 2013 Ram 2500 quit, I had no cruise control in it. The Ram is gone, replaced by a 2021 Bronco that does not have adaptive cruise. Finding out that things disable…
All “Estate” cars (Station Wagons to us colonials). The Acura TSX longroof was a handsome vehicle, as was the Jetta/Golf Sportwagon/Alltrack. The BMW wagons, Audi wagons, Benz wagons...etc. They all got killed in this country by bland, boring, miserable to drive, lookalike crossover/SUV things that have no personality…
Came here for this, was not disappointed. I has a 74 with the simply horrific 2.3L 4 banger that had no guts whatsoever, and the fill for the gas was below that crease in the rear fender, which made it impossible to fill with the auto shut off on the gas pump nozzle.
The Mrs. paid for me to take a full day NASCAR driving course at Darlington (prior to the repaving). Yes, I know it’s an oval, but the differences in the two ends of the track (it’s an egg shaped oval) are pretty broad. Got to do 60 laps in three 20-lap stints with no pace car and no one in the car with me. “Just…
Texas. The only redeeming thing about a road trip through Texas is if you can stop at a Buc’ees. I remember going through Texas in the ‘80's with the Boy Scouts. We got excited in West Texas when we saw a tree. And triple digit heat just sucks. Stop for lunch, get back in the car and broil for the first 10 minutes. …
Hold your breath through the tunnels...if you can.
Let’s take a trip in the “way back” machine for a moment. The Merkur XR4Ti. Drop a modern 2.3 Ecoboost in it and a 4 wheel drive setup. Lift it 3" or so, put on some off-road tires. Seriously people, it could work.
What better way could there be to bring back Lancia? All-wheel drive Delta hot hatch EV, do a retro themed Stratos, that Fulvia concept they did a while back as an EV? How about a full on EV Type 037? Any one of those done properly might get me to buy an EV.
Are they still selling the Mitsubishi Mirage?
Actual gauges. I want to see an ammeter, an oil pressure gauge, a boost gauge, a temperature gauge, oil temp gauge, trans temp gauge, and fuel gauge. An idiot light indicating “check engine” tells me less than nothing until I plug in my OBDII scanner. It would be nice to see what’s going on under the hood.
OK, I see where everyone is going with the hybrid and electric theme here...but...
If anything, potentially an Acura Integra 6MT. But not till late next year at the earliest unless something totally blows up.
It is a wonderful day when that title comes in the mail, isn’t it?
Well...I didn’t mean to at the time, but I ended up taking my new Bronco on something marked in the nav as a “road”, but it was really less than a Jeep trail in West Virginia. The Mrs. and I were exploring abandoned mining towns in the New River Gorge area of West Virginia over Labor Day weekend. I had been plotting…
I had a ‘74 with the 2.3. It’s only saving grace was the 4-speed manual transmission. Timing belt slipped 2 teeth on me while driving (I’ll never know how I didn’t blow the engine), leaked oil, had to replace the rear spring stacks after one of the leafs broke on me. It was ugly inside and out, and an abomination.
Starsky and Hutch. Those Torinos were slow, and positively wallowed around turns. I started learning to drive (on road) in one. Completely miserable.
Came here for this, was not disappointed.
