With my auto I put the handbrake on and then put it in park. Takes pressure off the transmission pawl.

IMO: There is only one acceptable color for a turn signal. Yellow (or amber for you pedantic folks out there). They need to stop using the same red lights for both brake and turn signals. They aren’t the same thing, don’t use the same color.
