I generally find MPG numbers to be pretty accurate on bikes.

I have been using PocketCasts. It auto-downloads and syncs across the app and the desktop player. I think it cost a few bucks but after using it to flawlessly listen to hundreds of hours of podcasts it’s been well worth it.
