Many people I know suffer from inbox clutter. One thing I do to alleviate this is to treat my inbox as a to-do list rather than as a storage bin. This is a good time to go through your inbox and delete or file everything you don't plan on acting upon, and keep it down to 10 messages or 1 week's worth of action items.

I've never heard of this, but I bet my girlfriend would be interested. Where do you buy such a crazy tea ball?

@msivertsen: The best leverage in bargaining is the ability to walk away. That's hard to have these days when it comes to jobs, but if you did find another employer that would pay you better, even if you don't want to take that job, you can use another offer as a bargaining chip to show your current employer that

@brodiemac: One of my co-workers just remodeled her kitchen, and one thing that helped her tremendously was she modeled her whole kitchen in SolidWorks (she's a mechanical engineer and has the software for work). Obviously this is useless if you don't have the software and knowhow, but she managed to try different

@klmrlkn555: By now it's too late. Anything you could have done to affect your growth would have been done throughout your growing youth. I say this as a cured pituitary dwarf (no joke) who took artificial human growth hormone injections from age 5-15 and spoke with endocrinologists in depth about how to affect

Yesterday I tried turning my Canon SX200IS into a super camera from this article:

A friend of mine says he always files for an extension to file his taxes for the sole reason that he's less likely to be audited. I don't know what validity there is to that idea, but unless you're getting a huge refund, it can't hurt.

A fun non-tech prank for any day, but also works for April fools, is if you're sitting shotgun in someone's car, at a stoplight, distract them and shift into neutral. Usually you just push the shifter up or forward and it slides right in. They'll rev the engine and freak out, then it's best to immediately help them if

Pshh, my password is super unhackable, it's ...

So the war is now Apple+HTML5 vs. Google+Flash+Microsoft. I know Apple was already fighting them all separately, but this joining of forces will only create larger gaps in usability. Remember when competing technologies actually benefited the consumer?

My favorite license plate I saw carpooling in Chicago: SKMYBLS on a pickup truck. No one else got it but I immediately died laughing, and imagined Cartman with a megaphone.

@daveywest: Last year a co-worker was travelling and returning either April 1st or 2nd, so we pranked his office. We made it look as though we filled his whole office with packing peanuts by putting a layer about 2" thick on the windows that look from his office to the hall and holding that layer next to the wall with

@CaptainSpankOMax: I haven't tried that, but I don't see why not. It may make the coffee more bitter, but some sugar/sweetener should fix that.

If you're brewing your own coffee, a cheap way to up the delicious factor is to add a heaping teaspoon of cinnamon to the grounds. Way better than adding post-brew, though that still improves it IMO.

@TehBeardMan: I think you can always file Federal for free with TurboTax. I just print the state so that's free too, aside from postage.

A good example of this article's point is Ford. Back when the auto bailout was happening and GM and Chrysler looked ready to fail, Ford was on thin ice but not in water. My roomie and I talked about buying in just $500 or so in case they came back. They were trading under $2 then. Now they're over $13, that's over

@TVarmy: I'm hoping for the same thing. My MacBook is the model just before the glass trackpad. Or even a hack for 3 or 4 finger gestures on the multi-touch Magic Mouse would be great.

Yes, mostly. Feds are e-filed and done as of earlier this week, but I haven't mailed state forms yet.

@nka: Many have mentioned that 4-wheel drive doesn't help on ice. It'll help if you get stuck in snow, otherwise it'll probably make you overconfident. I'd recommend a stick shift. They're awesome for multiple reasons, and engine breaking in snow is a great supplement to ABS. It also helps you rock out from being

Not one joke about screwing or fitting a tiny screw into a too-large hole? Did all the 14 yr olds (and adults with a 14-yr-old sense of humor) take the day off? I'm actually kind of disappointed.
