Ozay!
Ozay!
Yup. Dude used to spit blood from a goblet and wear Anne Rice-style puffy shirts.
Vol 2 of Jason Aaron's Thor. This series has just been super, super epic so far, with absolutely gorgeous art from Esad Ribic. Seriously, the visuals in this book are absolutely breathtaking, and Gorr was a total badass villain. Great stuff, and I am so on board for more Thor! Old Thor, Young Thor, Lady Thor, the fat…
You only have to listen to Stan's characteristic "Make Mine Marvel!" patter to hear his bombastic scripts come to life. Kirby was Marvel's creative force, but Lee had a pretty big hand in creating the Marvel universe as we know it. To deny him any hand in that is unfair, and to wish cancer on the guy is fucking awful.
The Headbangers!
I really like the term "hoss it up". Thanks for that.
Yeah you're right. I looked it up and I was thinking of the 1998 Survivor Series, where Mankind was being pushed by Vince McMahon, and the Rock had to fight against the odds to get to the final, where it was revealed that Vince and the Rock had been working together the whole time. I still remember being super pumped…
I was a big Attitude Era fan, but I don't tend to remember entire shows so much as individual matches or moments. A few that I remember fondly:
No Way Out 2004, where Eddie Guerrero beat Brock Lesnar in a great David and Goliath-style match. I love how Eddie cultivated the "lie, cheat, steal" persona as a heel, but was so likeable that crowds ended up cheering for him anyway.
Except it was spelled "Venis", just to class it up a little.
It does indeed!
Sounds like a 90s ska band :/
Girl From HOPPERS is a better starting point, I think, but I definitely recommend going back to Maggie the Mechanic to check out the weird beginnings of the Locas stories.
That is neither ironic nor true.
The Duck comics were some of my earliest comics, along with Asterix and Tintin. Such great adventures. And the reprints are gorgeous.
"Golden Age" is a bit of a misnomer, really, considering how crappy and disposable so many of the comics of that era are.
I read a few trades this week. First up, Conan: The Hall of the Dead and other stories. This volume has the last Kurt Busiek-penned issues, plus a few by Mike Mignola, before switching to Timothy Truman, who takes over the series. It occurs to me that Mignola pretty much writes the same story over and over — but, boy,…
Tell me more about Legends of the Dark Knight. I thought that series was cancelled?
Damn that's rough. I hope the dude is doing better, not just because I've been hearing good buzz abut Nowhere Men. But hey, it sounds like new issues will see the light of day sometime, so that's cool.
Well, maybe! But you yourself used it to declare that "a *lot* of Roger Corman movies that were/are written off as total junk pass the test", which is kind of interesting to consider, right?
