Uh yeah, what I just said was, it doesn't tell us much of anything about individual movies. It's a tool for looking at the industry as a whole.

The Bechdel Test doesn't really mean anything in isolation, but it's not meant to be used that way. It's meant to illustrate the overall lack of female representation in movies, and it definitely succeeds at that.

I kind of agree, but Farel Dalrymple is so great I can definitely make an exception.

I was gunna say, anyone else excited about X-COM? Looks like it's just focusing on the base management part of the video game and not the tactical squad stuff, but still could be excellent. Assymmetrical co-op!

Meanwhile there was another shitstorm going on over at Badass Digest, where they posted a great piece a few days ago calling out misogyny and terrorism in gaming culture. They got absolutely stormed by shitheads, but their commentariat stood up and footed it with the trolls, for what it's worth. I'm glad

I'm really looking forward to catching up on her Red Sonja run sometime. She seems to have a real love for the character that hopefully will translate into good stories.

"This allows Rodriguez and Miller to pull a Pulp Fiction and resurrect some of their more popular, departed rogues."

I read the first trade of Pretty Deadly, which at first didn't really grab me (apart from the beautiful art by Emma Rios) but which by about issue three had kicked into high gear and had me totally on board. I'm super looking forward to volume two now. Did I mention the art is absolutely gorgeous?

No love for his run on Conan?

I really like Bachalo's art out of context, like on covers for example, but I often have trouble following him from panel to panel when it comes to interiors. I just don't think he's very good at panel-to-panel storytelling.

Everybody's rappin' like it's Edge of Tomorrow, actin' like life is a big Edge of Tomorrow.

Hello, Goodbye, Repeat

Good call, actually. Probably the main reason that there are so many white dudes in comics is that so many of the characters were created 50+ years ago. It's why it's so good to see stuff like the new Ms Marvel and Miles Morales doing well.

I dunno, man. That sounds a lot like "I liked it until it got popular", which is a nerd-opinion I have no time for. Besides, Superior Foes isn't even that popular? I mean, a write-up in McSweeney's (while cool) ain't that big a deal.

As someone who has only read Elegy, where's the jump-off point? When JH Williams left?

Or their creepy-as-fuck human masks.

Would definitely have gone to see this movie.

Hey thanks, it's interesting to hear a positive take on it. Shame about all that Greg Land art, though huh.

Time After Time was my least favourite song. TIME AFTER TIME WAS MY LEAST FAVOURITE SONG!

Hey thanks! So apart from Age of X are those relatively stand-alone? Or are you getting into some serious serialisation there?
