I think it has a lot to do with the facts that nobody cares about women's sports and everyone assumes women athletes are gay to begin with.
I think it has a lot to do with the facts that nobody cares about women's sports and everyone assumes women athletes are gay to begin with.
Honestly, I think it's because make athletes are the epitome of manly man bro masculinity in our culture, while women doing athletics, especially ones most popular for men, have been stereotyped as unfeminine or lesbians for forever. People try harder to get female athletes to be feminine, to do the shoot in heels and…
Interesting. Can you be more of an asshole?
That's definitely a big part of this, but isn't it a little bit due to people not being nearly as offended by gay women as they are by gay men?
I'm genuinely not sure what you mean by "amusing". Because you think that society is more tolerant of lesbians than gay men? That nobody cares about women's sports?
Pro sports is a money maker, this is not making money, it is only around because the NBA pays to keep it afloat, therefore this is not a pro sport.
You had a point?
I don't think it has anything to do with the popularity, or lack thereof, of the WNBA.
Or, you know, it could be because women's sports have generally been a space that is more accepting than society over sexual orientation, while it's hard to find any culture more homophobic than men's sports.
I think its more that people just care so little about the WNBA in general...
that means it was on a news
I remember once seeing two very tall ladies on a flight to San Diego. I thought, who are they? Models? After we boarded, when the pilot introduced himself, he announced, "We have a couple of very special passengers flying with us today. Two members of the WNBA are on board. If you watch that."
it was actually top of the trending news on my facebook yestarday
I hope you've seen the other replies to jdels10, from men and women, that agree with you. People like that piss me off and are the main reason some people view feminists as "man haters." Jdels10 appears to be a very angry, confused misandrist, not a feminist.
This is the dumbest comment I've read in a while.
Other people in the thread have already expressed essentially why I say this, and they say it probably better than I would have so I'll leave it at that.
Such a little mind. We men can't empathize. That's just great. Thanks for calling us emotional idiots. Much appreciated.
Holy crap, your culture is insane. You want to be victims. And you can't even see the clear fact this man feels like a victim as well. But because he has a pair of balls, he can't empathize? You can only empathize with females? How does that fare when you demand equality? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for…
Hey! Look! So much equality in this post!
I get what you're saying, but I think that men who harass women know that they are harassing women. Just a couple of weeks ago I was attending a comic con with my husband and had a random guy come up to me (in costume—it was fantastic) to tell me that I looked cute in my outfit. I thanked him for the compliment and…
See but there are also women that enjoy those compliments, so what do you do?
