Actually, I don’t mind her at all. I just have a soft spot for the Fitzgeralds and hate the recent hyper-commercialization of their stories.

Oh please no
Loved this movie! One particular scene (if you’ve seen the film you can probably guess the one) caused someone in my cinema to pass out, poor guy. Epic.
I let my partner have his way a little too much and ended up with not nearly enough time in DC :( Hopefully bikes+motivation means we’ll be able to see as much as possible!
Thanks for the suggestions :)) I actually got my hands on a copy of the House of the Seven Gables and am planning on reading it en route. Wicca stuff seems quite hokey to me and Salem seems like it will be full of pseudo-supernatural stuff, so I will be in avoid-mode for that!
Wonderful suggestions!! I couldn’t find a copy of the Crucible to re-read (not required reading in Australia I guess...) but I did find another Nathaniel Hawthorne to read in advance to get me in the mood. Your suggestion sounds great - maybe I can find a copy of the Witches whilst in Salem :) Jane Austen: here I…
Thanks!! I have copied+pasted your reply and will be adding it to my notebook - I haven’t been to Boston since I was a broke student so it will be really nice to return when I’m actually able to afford meals out and museum admissions! AND PRETZELS!! I love pretzels :))
Are there any particular ones you would recommend to see lit up? I can imagine Lincoln would be great at night, but not sure which others :)
Ohh, thanks! Fast is good - I want to cram a LOT of stuff in. Also, I love gift shops!!
Thanks for the suggestions - it does seem like there are way too many things to do for the time we are there - don’t know how I will choose haha!
I have been to Boston a few times, but not for about a decade and I’ve always wanted to hit up the Freedom Trail. I’m bringing my partner who has never been to Boston, so thanks for reminding me that the leaves should be gorgeous - I’m really looking forward to it!
Thanks!! I am hoping Salem in October can offer maximum kitsch. Tripadvisor has wildly conflicting reviews of all the museums, so I was feeling stuck. But I think as long as I don’t go in with lofty expectations, I should be okay!
Yeah, I wasn’t sure how many/which monuments to do but I think we might rent bikes to see maximum monuments in minimum time - The Mall seems bigger than I remember from when I was there as a 14 year-old!
Thanks! I have been to Boston a few times (but have’t been for about 10 years) and always wanted to do the Freedom Trail. I will have to make sure it gets done this time :))
Good evening! I am looking for tips on the absolute best things to do in DC, Boston, and Salem, Mass. I will be visiting soon and am still trying to pick, for example, which witch museum to visit and the best way to spend my time at The Mall. Would appreciate any and all can’t-miss-it suggestions!
My three year-old fluffball recently had the same thing done (minus the extractions, thank Dog). Poor thing took one step outside of his basket when we got home and just flopped over onto the bed. He spent the evening standing around, staring into space. I hated seeing him like that! Impressive though: he somehow…
A guy who used to live in my house got Xmas calendars from relatives in the UK every year. I just kept them for myself until he was sent something a bit bigger and then I felt guilty and found him on facebook to get his new address. Along with the gift I sent him a huge stack of his letters that had been piling up, in…
I feel this way about my fluffball. I always say to him “ARGH YOU ARE SO CUTE I WANT TO EAT YOU!”
How is this a big deal? People pass out at film festivals all the time. I’ve seen this happen at least twice - usually when there is blood on the screen.
I don’t know if I would classify Elle as a feminist film, especially considering who the director is, however, I also wouldn't classify it as a “rape-revenge” film. It’s more complicated than that, and not really like any film I've seen before.
