I’ve twice made the mistake of speaking to my mom’s evangelical best friend since her death last year of cancer. Both times, she’s given me the explanation that these things “happen for a reason.”

My wife is a beautician (and man bun enthusiast) and when I read the headline to her, she immediately responded “That’s the stupidest fucking thing I’ve ever heard.” Like the other commenter, she says it’s much more likely with tight braids, and more commonly seen in African-American women.

As a former resident of Mt. Pleasant, I can most assure you that it does exist. At one point, it had more SUVs per capita than any city in the country. It is a veritable bevy of 50/60-year old hippies turned Republicans.
