No the base games are not survival games at all, I would agree. However the mechanics people have implemented with mods are quite interesting to play with.

I think he met with the mods... and with the proper mods, yes, it can absolutely be what most today call a “survival game”.

Skyrim and Fallout 4 are my go-to survival type simulators at this point. Mods like Frostfall, Campfire and iNeed make Skyrim pretty good with added disease management, food,drink, sleep, etc. along with preventing freezing to death.

Thing is, if you want good content out of someone, that person has to want to make that content. If Joe made content he wasnt into then the viewers would be complaining about the bad content.
