Not to get too political, but people who say that the complainers of TFA are just people who just didn’t like the answers that Rian Johnson gave are like the people who say Democrats don’t like Trump because they can’t get over the 2016 election.

Something that didn’t sit right with me was JJ’s ending RoS with the twin suns setting. That definitely should have been the end of the series shot, but capping Luke’s death with it and then using it again felt hollow.

Fair. It just feels like TLJ wraps up most of the major threads set up in TFA without leaving much meat for a third act to resolve.

That’s fair, but I suppose I’d need a seed planted for how Kylo being in charge is significantly different from when he was second banana. He’s just as impulsive and aggressive when Snoke is alive as he is after he’s dead.

I’m not opposed to answering and closing the mystery box. I’m frustrated by the lack of adding anything to build off of in the next film. I said it above, but TLJ feels like the conclusion of a story rather than the middle piece. As a result, it feels “off.”

From a story structure perspective, you don’t resolve the big mystery in the second act though, do you? Part of what feels disjointed about TLJ is that it feels like, if anything, it should be the third act. It ends largely where TFA begins.

He provided resolutions in the second part of a trilogy.

I feel like that’s an issue with the post-Disney Star Wars stuff in general. It too heavily relies on laying breadcrumbs for other things in an effort to get the audience to read a comic or a novel. As a Star Wars fan, it’s frustrating.

Hot take: Rian Johnson made a fantastic final act of a trilogy. But as a 2nd act? Not so great.

Two bits of info from Force Awakens that I’ve found interesting, but might also just be coincidences to beat all coincidences.

For better or worse, I’ve seen a lot of takes that are some variant of “JJ came and just pissed all over everything Johnson did.”

And why no one come out as lizard person in movie? Always cat person to be trans, but never lizard person trans representation? What are lizard people? Invisible?
