That . . . seems about right for him, actually. He paid a bunch of money for a ridiculous item that he used for a stupid purpose, which he could have accomplished for a fraction of the money, effort, or danger to others.
“He’s drunk!” - He’s in his own house.
I had a moment where I was like “Is he acknowledging that he said a bunch of really awful stuff, and saying he’s going to stop? That’d be a nice step toward being less of a monster.”
You got it the first time.
I was thinking the same thing. It looks like it’d be hard just to hang on to.
Oh, my God, what if they’re doing some part of The Last Command?
That’s what I was remembering, too. Like, this is a weapon that U.S. nuclear policy in the mid-20th century, the people who ran studies on nuking hurricanes and brought you the cobalt-case “salted bomb,” decided was maybe not a good idea. The people who invented the fission mortar shell, and who just told troops to…
I feel like I remember a few years ago, when Nixon’s (secret) version of this kind of list was considered a horrifying sign of his authoritarian tendencies, and the idea of a list like this in the hands of the intelligence agencies was so deeply uncomfortable that nobody even wanted to talk about, even though we were…
If I wasn’t very sure they probably have an arbitration clause on every employee (thanks, federal judges looking to minimize caseload!), it’d probably be worth pointing out that there’s a duties test for exemption from overtime, and that they’d be on the hook for a ton of owed pay to employees.
It sounds like, in theory, they’re entitled to a Rep under treaty and to whoever their Rep would be based on district of residence? That seems like it would make sense. Then again, the laws weren’t written with Native American rights in mind - they didn’t intend to ever honor this treaty, much less anticipate people…
Cherokee Nation in OK getting a Representative is an excellent “fuck you” to Jackson and his little acolytes. Hopefully, that hateful old turd is rolling in his grave.
I was gonna say, we here in North Carolina are the national leaders in vote suppression, and we don’t need North Dakota getting any big ideas. /s
That’s good, in that the first gay astronaut has been up! Sucks she had to be closeted, and that more people don’t know about it.
I’m sure there are standard security requirements for passwords to prevent that.
I was really worried there, for a moment. Fortunately, she clarified that she’s not racist, right after she finished saying a whole bunch of things that would otherwise sound extremely goddamn racist.
Babylon 5 is probably the most 90s sci-fi show in the universe. Despite that, it also helped set the stage for the Breaking Bad-type shows, where every week something happened that directly advances an over-arching plot. Very good, complex characters and world, occasionally weird dialogue, a bit of cheesiness you may…
Oh, man, I’m sorry if that was an eye-roller. That was how my progression went, too - TNG -> DS9, then I tried some of the other series and wasn’t as into them. DS9 is also somewhat like Babylon 5, if that’s something you’re into, so that’s what I occasionally get it confused with.
When you’re done, may I recommend DS9 as a follow-up? It’s a lot different, but it’s got several good things going for it:
Seems like he liked having his name on shit. That’s not really a virtue, there’s people like that hitting highway overpasses in America with a can of spray paint every day
