Also weird to say this, but it's also a rare light/family friendly romcom where the leads are straight up horny for each other. Usually in movies like these (think the Hanks/Ryan series), it's usually kept chaste until closing out on a big kiss. I found it pretty refreshing that it's pretty clear the lead characters…

There’s a possibility that I’ve never had “good” meringue, which could make all the difference, but yes. It’s always looked more beautiful than it tastes, in my opinion!

My experience/opinion on meringue is similar to Marnie’s. I’ve never really been able to get into the texture of it. I’ve kind of gotten to a point where for me, meringue is just kind of ‘there’ and I’m more than willing to put up with it if there’s a really good pie (especially lemon) underneath.

There were no big dramatic moments or revelations, or contrived misunderstandings, or tragic events. Just a couple of people gradually falling for each other, like real life. So much more relatable.

I, on the other hand, am convinced that Kevin Bacon is Patient Zero.

While Nia Vardalos did not get to recreate the success of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, it is fair to say that the film paved way for wedding romcoms with non-WASP characters like Crazy Rich Asians.
