The vitriol you see against Meghan Markle is absolutely mental. I’m probably not even active in the sorts of spaces where she’s properly loathed, but I still see it constantly.

Staying where she was seems like the most responsible thing she could have done at the time. If you’re not sick and not planning to leave your residence — ie not draining local resources/potentially infecting others  — what’s the issue here? 

Yeah, I really dislike Ripa, but in this instance, she’s damned if you do, damned if you don’t.  If she had traveled home, she would have caught flack for travelling when it wasn’t recommended, putting flight crews health at risk, etc.

I have a lot of empathy for Taylor because my mom also has stage IV cancer. It’s extremely hard, and I often have to drop plans or not fully commit to things based on her health. You just live in a different plane of existence than everyone else.

You forgot to mention in your review of Taylor Swift’s year that her mother was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. Maybe TS is choosing to hang out with her instead of attending events where every time her name is mentioned it’s followed up with a mention of Kanye West being a dick to her.
