Honestly. Why try so hard to defend someone so cruel.

Also a local. I would love to see this problem solved, it is demoralizing, depressing, frustrating. Personally, I am tired of fearing for my safety trying to walk into a doctor appointment or a business lunch. It’s out of control. But before anyone asks for another tax dollar, they need to explain why THIS property…
As a local, I always assumed that the original proposal was sort of like an opening bid to start a negotiation with Amazon. This plan was never going to be enacted and watching non-locals express outrage is strange.
When people complain about the lack of income tax in WA, they forget about the other taxes we pay, including an extremely high sales tax.
Washington State will never have an income tax. I get that everyone wants to say this over and over, but it’s really basically impossible.
Thank you for an actually reasonable response. It’s hard to read so many articles and comments like this. While I know that these people mostly aren’t locals or involved in Seattle politics, it’s still surprising how strongly people feel about something they know nothing about.
I said it somewhere above, but this is so true and freaks me out so much. Prob half of the women I know who are intensely anti choice have had at least one abortion.
Oof, unfortunately 100% correct. I am relatively young, 28, and grew up with these people. Friends with some of them to this day. They are an interesting bunch, very into church and god, not so much into the rules, but hardcore against abortion. They don’t seem like radicals. They go out on the weekends, date a lot,…
I wish I had some good advice but I’ve been in this business (family construction business that’s been around for decades) and no one has been able to figure out how to keep this from happening. Lawsuits don’t work, appealing to people’s sense of decency (HA!) doesn’t work, only working with friends doesn’t work. We…
Don’t feel badly about it at all. When companies screw customers over and over again, some of them will eventually take a stand. The problem is that you DID handle it honestly, she paid her premiums and followed the rules. Insurance companies just don’t have any rules for themselves, so it’s impossible to be in an…
As someone in a business where people bail without paying quite a bit, I am also kind of surprised that they took it to such an extreme. Getting that high of a percentage would be a win to me in a lot of cases.
Something similar happened to my sister, only it was about four times that amount. Fighting with insurance got her nowhere for a couple years. Finally she just called the hospital itself, spoke with someone in their finance department, and arranged an incredibly reasonable settlement. Not sure if your wife has tried…
I understand your point. It sucks but, as someone in a business where people fuck off without paying quite often, I can sympathize with the vet here too.
I always wondered why my credit score was mediocre. Thought it was because other than student loans, I had never borrowed. Then I started utilizing a credit card to improve my score and paid off most of my loans. Didn’t really improve much. Turns out I had a debt held by a collection agency. Wasn’t my debt. It was…
This kind of bullshit makes me insane. I’m a builder. We get stiffed ALL the time. Sometimes for tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. There is no recourse for us against these asshole rich guys who decide, hey, I’m just not going to pay. But someone who owes forty bucks on a co pay or something goes to jail?…
So... just asking people for a gift for accomplishing/doing/completing nothing? I hear this all the time and it just seems odd and bitter.
THIS IS MY PLAN. Glad to know it worked for someone.
I’m super bummed about it. I’m their age and, while they are different from my group of friends, a lot of it rings true. How she is handling finding out about the pregnancy rings so false to me.
I love Girls but I think they almost went overboard making Marnie so detestable. Like, even at the worst of times the others have redeeming qualities. She is a complete zero. It is so obvious it takes me out of the story sometimes.
Your idea is my fav so far. It is so improbable that Hannah has managed to scrape by this long, seeing her end up back in Michigan makes so much sense to me.
