Oh god, you’re right! It’s worse than I realized! Maybe I’ll just ignore these slideshow lists from now on....

this is actually the first time one of these had loaded properly for me on PC. The last few just brought up the first splash page with no way for me to actually tab through the list (which honestly should just be on one page but ads gotta ad I guess
the thing I missed the most from the original (besides the feather) was how in cup mode the computer behind you would try to snipe you with items you couldn’t even get from item boxes (like Bowser’s fireballs or the Mushrooms Peach would throw, the ones that shrink you).
It made it feel like you had a rival in the cup…
Double Dash actually killed the series for me for a long time. There was stuff about it I liked (course design, 2 player mechanics) but the items felt out of control. Sometimes you get bad luck in Mario Kart but that was the first game I remember being in 1st then getting hit by a ton of garbage back to back until you…
Phoebe is the best. Her and Billy were mt starting villagers. I wouldn’t mind having more birds but wolves/goats are the only thing I got two of atm. Most of the birds seem super cute though, I especially like the ostrich or whatever kind that Phoebe is.
That doesn’t matter. They sort of teleport wherever they want to be when the map refreshes the villager locations. I ran out of space for houses so I put my newest guy up on a mountain but he regularly shows up in town doing stuff
I don’t mind it. The original was full of dumb minigames too so it feels kind of nostalgic to me. I know it’s a trend rpgs and jrpgs have slipped away from apart from some casino stuff or a card game like Gwent but I still kind of miss it.
I was the opposite for some reason I absolutely hated Tifa and loved Aerith. Then after you lose her and start learning more about Cloud and Tifa’s past, I dunno. By the end of the game I had completely reversed my opinion of her.
I think it’s because the unreliable narration in the first half of the game paint her…
Is that why he has all those cats? Meat must be hard to come by in the slums.
Right? The only trophies/achievements I hate more are ones for beating the game in a certain amount of time and the dreaded multiplayer achievements that make it virtually impossible to complete games if the online community is dead.
Which is a big reason it took rpgs to catch on over here in the first place. I remember listening to a podcaster talk about how when he played his first rpg he didn’t get it because all of his other games were about NOT getting hit since you’d die or lose power ups but in rpgs you get hit in every fight. I hadn’t ever…
I dunno. There are plenty of people who play souls games offline to avoid pvp and invasions. It’s not that different from people who insist on soloing every boss. The help is there but they choose not to use it, I don’t see why online is any different.
difficulty settings can also be helpful for people with disabilities so the more options the better as far as I’m concerned.
It is funny though when the gap between two difficulties is this large.Maybe instead of easy it should have been called “casual” or “story mode”instead. Good for the game to let you switch…
Ah I thought I was going crazy for a second. I knew that the first season had already been out. Thanks for that, it’s good to know I didn’t hallucinate the first season.
Solid tips. Blind upgrading did get you burned in the original game too though sometimes.
Barret had melee weapons, a lot of armor had had defensive effects like absorbing elements or halving damage and so on, some weapons had less slots, no liked slots, double, triple, or no growth for the slotted materia when…
To be fair, FTL was generating some hype prior to launch and had a pretty successful kickstarter. It didn’t just come out of nowhere.
However, I can see your point. If it just popped up on the store unannounced it would seem pretty generic at a glance. It’s sort of the same problem with books.
If you walk through a…
4-8am is pretty much the bulk of my AC time since I usually play it either right when I wake up or right after I get home from work (I’m on nightshift). I seem to hear a lot of 5PM though and I really like that one too. I guess it doesn’t matter if it’s am or pm, if it’s got a 5 in it, then it’s good stuff.
Most translation back in those days was pretty bad. Either from bad localization choices, bad QA, but mostly from rushed deadlines, lack of staff, and technical limitations. There was a good article on 1up back in the day about Square’s localization history. Gonna quote a relevant bit of it here:
“Final Fantasy VII…
I think this event would be more tolerable if you could trade in the eggs for mystery furniture or clothing. That way even if you hate the egg stuff, you can still potentially get something fun out of it. Being able to trade in stacks of 10 or 20 for some miles or bells would be fine too.
As things are now I was…
Proof once again that Easter is the lamest holiday.
The sakura recipes are kinda nice but with all the extra stuff floating around in the air I feel like I’m about to be carpet bombed by balloons.
