Yeahhhh... I feel like if your job *literally* requires you to take a bullet for someone else — especially the POTUS — there shouldn’t be a cap on your income.
Any job where you have a salary cap and long hours you can end up with the same result. In Canada the MD’s had a pretty generous cap of $400k when I was there, so the doctors with lots of patients sometimes hit their cap in the summer. Technically, they’re working for free for the fall.
With all the measures this administration has taken to make federal workers’ working conditions and compensation better and fairer as a way of setting an example for the private sector, this and the nonsense with the California National Guard enlistment bonuses seem especially strange and unjust.
My employer has stiffed me on some additional pay recently, and I’ve found it overwhelmingly difficult to do any more than the quality of work for which I’ve been paid (which is about 75% the quality of work which I would otherwise do).
I guess Trump should hope his guards have stronger work ethics than I do.
So . . . they’re on salary. Okay. That’s how it usually works if you’re above the Salary overtime threshold in terms of pay and getting paid in salary. Don’t get me wrong - if their work really has stepped up well beyond the normal, they deserve a pay raise. But otherwise I don’t really see a problem here.
This puts a lot of Secret Service shenanigans in perspective. What a crock of labor exploiting bullshit.
Remember how the NYT said exactly that in their fuck off and die letter? “Bring it, we can’t wait for discovery.”
Prediction: next week he’ll say he will use the justice department to sue those nasty, nasty women.
Here’s the thing. Up til now, he could sue fairly cheaply, knowing that the “little people” he was going up against couldn’t afford to fight back. This is a new world for him - these women will be able to find better representation, and free, in exchange for the publicity the case will garner. Let him try to sue; he’s…
And they already have at least one lawyer totally willing to represent them pro-bono. Go for it asshole, Gloria Alred will protect you from the cheeto
The NYT lawyers response was Amazing
Let him sue these women, because that allows their lawyers to subpoena the raw footage from any interviews or tv shows he went on, and obtain all the open mic or cut footage of him bragging about sexually assaulting women or actually assaulting or harassing women on camera, it would be like opening a Pandora’s box. …
This is one of the things people with narcissistic personality disorder do: they threaten to sue. Constantly. It’s completely an intimidation tactic.
Trump is the walking embodiment of the old phrase ‘if everyone else is an asshole, maybe it’s not everyone else’...
I’d be shocked if he actually sued — he’d have to talk about his behavior under oath, and he’d open himself up to a lot more accusations. He’s just performing for his base and trying to intimidate his other victims so they’ll be too scared to come forward.
Of course he’s going to sue them. That’s what he does to anyone who speaks up about his behavior. Contractor makes inquiry about late payment? Don’t pay them! Just threaten a lawsuit. Shuts them right up.
They spent all this time trying to salvage the brand never realizing that this is the brand.
Translation: “Oh shit, the quarterlies are in from the various Trump projects, and everything’s tanking hard. It’s already leveraged up the kazoo, mass bankruptcies are on the cards for 2017/18, and I need to slice off my piece of the pie before it’s all sucked in to the debt hole”.
Too late, trustfund girl!
