All ages for the places I was hitting then just meant they were music venues that were not also “strictly” bars. Places like the Fireside Bowl, which was all ages, but not what anyone would call “family friendly”.

In college my wife suggested we should go see Gwar at a monster truck rally. I was really excited, and then she told me she was just kidding, and we both got embarrassed.

Now they just need to get their comments section off Kinja and we can finally leave the nightmare of the Herb Years behind.

I would have also accepted Ted Leo just to bring it back full circle. This is a better way to kick off the return though.

You’ve got some great Gwar AVC Undercover videos to discover.

I said they should have first song pick, but to actually be the first performance? Tremendous.

Welcome back, Danette (which is, incidentally, my middle name!), and congratulations on the position! And welcome back to Rabin and co. Really excited to see what all this brings for AVClub.

Weclome back, Danette! Looking forward seeing you and your staff restore AVC to its proper place.

Quite stoked to hear GWAR’s take on “Wild Thing”

Yeah, I definitely think that was a big part of it. I know from my own personal experience how frustrating it can be when you’re trying to own your shit in conversation with someone who doesn’t owe you that and makes sure you know it. I’m a middle-aged white cishet progressive dude. I’ve had my share of conversations

I think an important part of the kink was that he could influence the careers of these women. I think there was a power element. I doubt he would have pulled his dick out in front of established comedians like Ellen or Kathleen Madigan or Caroline Rhea.

There’s no blueprint or expectation for what a return looked like, and it would be silly if he was apologizing all the time, but when the “long time to step back and listen” amounts to returning six months later with “golly that sucked for me” material, it just recontextualizes the contrite attitude of the letter a

I already starred you, but this was very well said.

I recently rewatched “Better Things”. In season 2 (which along with season 1, has CK writing/cowriting credits for all but one episode), there’s a scene I completely forgot about where Pamela Adlon gives a ride to an actor who just got fired, and during the ride, he suddenly tells her he has an erection, and starts

Insert Norm Macdonald clip about how he disagreed with Patton Oswalt that Cosby’s hypocrisy was the worst part, but that instead it was all the rape.

The last time I tried to go to a regular theater that wasn’t the small one close to me that’s now closed, I was with 2 friends.  We showed up half an hour before showtime and they did not have 3 seats together for us.  So we walked out and went to a showing of Spaceballs for like $5 each at a small local theater.

Showing event TV in theatres is such a great idea. I bet a theatre showing two eps of something like “TLOU” every weekend for a month would be really popular.

“he ‘was able to get representation pretty early on, and that’s more than half the battle.’

I like going to the movies, so, selfishly, I hope theaters survive. But I think audiences have made pretty clear that there are really only a handful of movies per year that they’re willing to pay for a full theatrical experience to see. And I don’t think that makes them assholes or philistines.

Shit is so funny to me. What does she want to have happen here? What action should be taken and by whom? There’s no Grand High Cancellation Council that is refusing to hear his appeal.
