Manthey says the new car produces 2,200 pounds of downforce at 177 miles per hour, which I would guess is its new top speed. All of the aero flicks, bigger wings, and carbon “aerodisc” wheel inserts account for just 300 pounds of downforce at those speeds. Is it really worth it?

Came looking for this, was not disappointed. Thank you.

Jalopnik needs to hire some editors...

Why not both though? A community designed for walkability, interaction, places to work, eat shop all without driving, but also a non-centrally located parking garage for residents so if you want to walk 5 min to the garage to get your car and drive elsewhere, you can.

“The base Ioniq 6, the SE, puts out 149 horsepower to rear-motor rear-wheel drive, for 240 miles of range on standard 18-inch wheels. For those who want a few extra miles of range, a few extra thousand dollars (starting at $46,615), range is extended to 361 miles”

How do they judge this exactly?

No... but kind of the point of the article. Could’ve easily done a side-by-side pic - drive and car - or, even better from Jalopnik’s perspective, a whole extra slide per driver!

I mean... I suppose that’s neat and all. But who really cares?

Tire Spokes”....

This. And not just from the looks/proportions (which are awful), but I’ve had the unfortunate luck of driving one recently and it is the single worst vehicle I have ever driven, been driven in, or been within 10 feet of. The engine is torquey down low, but has no top end. Throttle and break pedal response are wildly

I’ll tell you what should really scare us all... electric vehicles. Having owned (second-hand) or driven a fair share of “performance” vehicles (E90 M3, Charger SRT, GLS63 AMG, F-150 Raptor, Gallardo, F430...), I can tell you nothing compares to the instantaneous acceleration of a Tesla. And they’re not prohibitively

Not sure if i’m missing something, but hard disagree. None of these look good IMHO.

Take the 2 seconds it requires to google it - could double your intelligence learning a new word like that.

HA! I read this and the “Click to Subscribe” inset popped up... again.

I can’t quite tell given the angle and shadowing in the video, but possibly in support of the argument that he JUST missed the opportunity to make it under unscathed is the fact that the forward 1/3-1/2 of the ship does not appear to have lost containers. Is it possible that the tide was rising just enough as the ship

I’m right there with you - this is on my short list for next cars come spring 2021 (along with last gen AMG E63 Wagons and on a completely different note, the new LRD). I’m really hoping I can find something used in the low 60s. Seems like that might be in the realm of possibility, and that’s only 4mo into this car

Dead on. Here is a prime example:

I think your NM to ft-lb conversion is off. Not 8,113, but rather ~2,581. And now i can’t buy it because i have a strict 3,000 ft-lb floor to avoid the peasantry.

3 with the leap

I had an E90 M3 and now have a Dodge Charger SRT, and both subscribe to this idea. Comfort, Sport and something above or between those two. The M3 could adjust suspension independently, and the SRT can adjust steering, suspension and “responsiveness” (throttle response?) independently, but that’s it, and both systems
