I’ve always wondered—especially after Leaving Neverland—if Feldman and Culkin are both struggling with the realization that they were the honey in the honey trap used just by Michael Jackson but by many other people in the industry. I don’t think, for instance, either Culkin or Feldman are lying when they insist

We were getting rid of Hulu until they announced they were picking up 30 Rock (which we’re currently watching RIGHT NOW) and Futurama when Netflix cut both loose.

The second act is just another revival of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf.

Saul’s named the fake company Skyler pays ‘Ice Station Zebra,’ for one. That’s the name of the movie he was watching with Kim in season one when she found out about his... shady tendencies. Her questionable driving skills don’t bode well for her either.

I don’t think Song of the South should just be released into the general feed, but I don’t think ignoring is the way to go either—it lets Disney ignore what it’s done. Same with removing the awful scene in Dumbo. There should be context, and a section in its library curated and designed to educate and reckon with the

I thought that was Warner Bros.--Whoopi did that for Warner Bros., but I didn’t know she did it for Disney as well.

Warner Bros. released their full library, with context. Disney should do the same—ignoring the history does not exonerate it (as our President is learning, in theory). Plus this ignores Disney’s other racist sins—Aladdin springs to mind—that are still embraced.

I’ve always just said, “Meh—the explody part is all the oxygen in the ship igniting.” Though I’ve no explanation for the boomy parts.

I must say, that is a rarefied opinion. Not at all wrong, really--it’s just not one I’ve heard before. It’s been ages since I saw Tess, so I’ll give it another watch.

Also possible she wasn’t well-liked on the set, and they’d tolerated her because she had a recognizable face. Cutting her from the show like this certainly doesn’t make me think people working with her put up much of a fight for her.

So Lifetime will certainly make a movie ABOUT the admissions scandal—starring Neve Campbell, perhaps, as Loughlin and maybe William H. Macy as Felicity Huffman—but they’ll be goddamned if they’ll make a movie with anyone IN the scandal, I guess.

She’s also in the Central Park 5 movie Netflix has coming up soon. Surely they won’t pull THAT one. It’s gotta help that she plays the prosecutor who coerced false confessions from the kids.

She’s 87. Just wait a bit--no need to sue her for the rest of her life.

Ordinary People gets a lot of shit for beating Raging Bull at the Oscars, but I think it holds up quite well, and is a well-crafted film. All the performances are great, with Mary Tyler Moore nailing her role as a repressed, oppressive mother. Glad to see it in a context other than ‘Top Oscar-winning movies that

So, if Hitler had had more than one ball, would we now be dealing with all of his issue as well?

Can’t go with you on Into the Woods. Might be my own fault for watching the American Playhouse version so many times in high school though—the new reworking ruins it for me. Saw it a few years ago in Central Park with Sondheim literally in the audience, and kept thinking ‘If a kid is now telling the story as role of

...also hated the film adaptation of Into the Woods, now that I think about it. Oh! And Gypsy. Great stage musical—midling to awful film adaptation.

Burton’s version of Sweeney Todd, to me, was an abomination. And I live ‘A Little Night Music,’ which is considered great if niche, and the film version is godawful. And Porgy and Bess, the film version, has been erased from existence because of how awful it was.

Perhaps they should wait til the Barr summary comes in before making such requests.

I’ve been wondering that since they announced. The commentary tracks were, in some cases, THE reason I would buy Criterion editions over other releases of certain movies--Dazed and Confused, for instance. They put proper thought into the DVD extras and supplements, and I hope that part of the Criterion brand makes the
