Yeah the 4.2 just doesn’t deliver. Torque is really anemic also.

Macan S. No matter what you do, you can’t make a truck handle like a sedan.
That’s the thing though, it’s really not that quick in V8 trim. There’s a million reasons it should be but it doesn’t add up. Here’s the stock power curve. The S4 puts out an extra 40 WHP and an extra 75 WTQ with the supercharger. The R8 still about 3600 pounds. I trimmed down my S4 so it weighs 3600 pounds as well.
Sure, but a car with that sort of stature should be more like 11 seconds faster not 2 seconds faster. They don’t give the driver any kind of unfair advantage.
The thing about the V8 R8 is it’s not that fast. I pass them all of the time on track in my supercharged S4 in the advanced run groups.
Audi maintenance is an order of magnitude cheaper than those other cars you mention. It’s not uncommon for a McLaren owner to spend $60,000 per track season on maintenance. Ask any one of them.
The problem with the Cayman and the 981 in general is it’s very feminine in shape. Making it red and putting a roof on it doesn’t make it any better. You have to own it. We started looking at used 997.2 cabrio cars but there’s very little inventory - they sell in as little as two days sometimes. A new Boxster ended up…
What wreck? That car looks like it’s in better shape than anything Avis has.
It’s fine man, half of the people on the road would rather not be driving. Let them go autopilot.
The key problem with autonomous cars in cities is they do drive too slow and too cautiously. There’s a lot of ambiguity and risk in city driving that the algorithms won’t take.
19” wheel is too small for a modern Porsche.
The trick with porsche options is they charge you the aftermarket install price for something. So you can get a car with base exhaust and if you’re happy with it (they’re loud), you saved the $3000. If you’re not, you just spend the $3000 on a Tubi or whatever.
Since these cars run 27” tires a 20” wheel really fills it out nicely. Compare that to 25” tires on a BMW or 26” tires on an Audi.
You can get by without Bose (this isn’t a BMW so you don’t need the upgrade), without adaptive seats (lol the base seats are great), without Nav (you have a phone and would like to save $4500 right?), without sports chrono ($2000 for a clock and a few bits flipped in software?), without PASM (passive sport dampers are…
If you’re spending $65k get a boxster. If you’re spending $70k get a Cayman. If you’re spending $90k for the love of god don’t get a 981 with the hobbled rear suspension. Get a proper 911. It’s a way better car, and this is coming from a 2015 Boxster owner. The GT4 isn’t winning any car of the year tests because a…
OK, well the base 991.2 has the same 3.0L engine as the S so is it still ok to buy the base model, Rockefeller? A 2010 997.2 turbo is still like $80k. Again, might as well get a brand new car that still does 0-60 in under 4 seconds. Yes, a Porsche is reliable but you have to maintain it. It’s not some free maintenance…
The truth is you’d be fine with a Boxster. There’s not $140,000 of extra enjoyment in your loaded cabrio turbo S.
It’s just not a cool car. Maybe if you are under 21 years old. Why wouldn’t you just get a 3 series like a normal person? That thing weighs like less than 100 pounds less and the short wheelbase actually makes it handle worse. Remember when the 335i beat the 135i in the Lightning Lap?
You can get the new one with no options for $88,000. They’re pretty loaded now. And it has turbos. And it’s not going to need insane maintenance after you drop $65,000 on it. And it’s not going to be 9 model years old LOL.
When does the 2017 model drop? November 2016?
