Why wasn’t Deadspin (and specifically, you Diana) able to find Ms. Ennis’ incident from 2011? Don’t you do simple searches of the people you write about before publishing?

An honest question about how Deadspin has reported this (its an important story, and I’m glad its getting traction):

If it was so easy and simple to find, and all these teams are dumbasses for not knowing about something that happened in 1996....why has it taken you guys so long to report the story??

No one knew about this incident. How would anyone know to randomly look into Texas indictments about a case that was never brought to court? Why weren’t you reporting on this years ago? Oh, I know, because you didn’t know about it either until you knew exactly what to search for and where to search for it.

And he didn’t do his protest until after he was demoted. Nobody on Deadspin ever acknowledges the timing. He is getting screwed though, he’s better than most of those backups listed.

Personally, (and I guess this needs to be said) I supported Kaepernick’s decision to not stand as a form of protest. It was subtle, poignant, and about as far away from “attention seeking” as one can get. Are you are claiming a 1400 lb car under caution on dirt with dirt racing tires has similar maneuverability to an 80000 lb freight hauler going 70 mph?

So dirt track cars that basically powerslide the entire course have the ability to maneuver quite a bit? This is all news to me and racecar drivers.

Racecars running staggered tires and set up to only turn left aren’t as nimble as ones set up for road racing. You tend to drive circle track cars with your right foot. That seems to be what he was attempting to do and sadly it didn’t work out.

have you driven a sprint car? its not a miata that handles on a dime and certainly cant stop or change directions efficiently. just because it is a race car doesnt mean it handles like some sort of GT3 car. kevin ward stepped infront of a race car on a live track.

Very simple fact. Had Kevin Ward Jr. not exited his race car and walked down the racing surface, he would still be alive. Everything else in this case is irrelevant. If I pull my car over on the shoulder and get out, stepping in front of a semi, is it my fault or the semi driver’s fault?

I’ve always liked Sergio, but even I have to admit I understand the widespread antipathy. He’s often been a whiny bitch with a woe is me attitude, who was usually his own worst enemy on the course.

They’re traveling for free on a employee pass... There’s different standards when you get it free from the an employee (which then you do represent the company even if you don’t know it) rather than when you paid for your seat.
