It has to be a lot more radioactive than the waste we currently produce. And you're overestimating the volumes produced, especially if we reprocess.

Bullshit. Getting enough magnesium in me changed my life profoundly.
Yes, it was better than the first. I still went to sleep in the middle of it, just like the first time.
I like the music, actually.
Flibe Energy and Transatomic Power are doing that.
I know. My grandfather worked on the MSR experiment at ORNL. The reactor ran, but it wasn't ready for commercialization, and the technology needs to be revived. That will take time and resources. The only place the proper resources are being dedicated is China, and even then they're not expecting anything until…
I would love to pass on uranium, but the best designs for thorium reactors (molten salt) won't be ready until 2030-ish. Until then (and about 10-20 years after that for commercialization) uranium will have to do.
More uranium than you can imagine can be gathered from sea water. After that there's thorium, enough for 10,000 years. And after that there's fusion.

Our reluctance to fully embrace nuclear power is a huge mistake.
The waste problem is solved. Yucca Mountain. Power plant decommissioning is a known process. And the waste is useless to terrorists. Nuclear can be small, as the Navy has demonstrated for decades. Anything else?
Nah, I think anti-nukers are the liberal version of climate change denial, mainly because being anti-nuke helps fossil fuel interests.
Anti nuclear denialists, for sure. Even top climate scientists are now saying that we need nuclear energy: http://minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/20…
I don't need health insurance as I have it from my employer, but just for giggles I went through the signup process this morning.

For all of it's good points I just couldn't get over the physics problems, especially since they were the crux of many of the most dramatic plot points. But that's just a pet peeve of mine. :)
Apparently the fish markets at Fukushima don't care about your fear mongering: http://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/engli…
